Title: Renegade Heart

Author: Theo Lawrence

Genre: YA Dystopian

Series: Mystic City (Book 2)

Publication Date: July 9, 2013

A city in flames. A trust betrayed. A perfect love destroyed.

Has Aria lost Hunter, her one true love?

Ever since rebellion broke out in Mystic City, pitting the ruling elite against the magic-wielding mystics, Aria has barely seen her boyfriend. Not surprising, since Hunter is the leader of the mystic uprising, and he’ll do whatever it takes to win freedom for his people—even if that means using Aria.

But Aria is no one’s pawn. She believes she can bring the two warring sides together, save the city, and win back the Hunter she fell in love with.

Before she can play peacemaker, though, Aria will need to find the missing heart of a dead mystic. The heart gives untold powers to whoever possesses it, but finding it means seeking out a fierce enemy whose deepest desire is for Aria to be gone—forever.

WHY I CANNOT WAIT: So I just found the synopsis while looking for the title of this book. And oooooh… Not what I expected for the sequel Of Mystic City. I mean, Hunter, why would you use Aria??? WHY?? I loved the first book and can’t wait to read what Lawrence has in store for the sequel.

Title: Let the Sky Fall

Author: Shannon Messenger

Genre: YA Fantasy

Series: Let the Sky Fall (Book 1)

Publication Date: March 5, 2013

Seventeen-year-old Vane Weston has no idea how he survived the category five tornado that killed his parents. And he has no idea if the beautiful, dark-haired girl who’s swept through his dreams every night since the storm is real. But he hopes she is.

Seventeen-year-old Audra is a sylph, an air elemental. She walks on the wind, can translate its alluring songs, and can even coax it into a weapon with a simple string of commands. She’s also a guardian—Vane’s guardian—and has sworn an oath to protect Vane at all costs. Even if it means sacrificing her own life.

When a hasty mistake reveals their location to the enemy who murdered both of their families, Audra’s forced to help Vane remember who he is. He has a power to claim—the secret language of the West Wind, which only he can understand. But unlocking his heritage will also unlock the memory Audra needs him to forget. And their greatest danger is not the warriors coming to destroy them—but the forbidden romance that’s grown between them

WHY I CANNOT WAIT: Okay, so I may not be that excited for this book. Mainly because I was lucky enough to get an ARC. Is that cheating? Hmm… Well, not really. I still plan to buy it when it comes out (stupid me traded the ARC for Prodigy…) This book has it all: forbidden romance, forbidden use of talents and forbidden FOOD. The writing is brilliant, switching back and forth between Audra and Vane. I love the characters, plot, setting… But if you really want to hear all my ramblings about this book, you should see my review of it here. Everyone should pre-order this book: it’s sure to be one of the highlights of next year.

Title: The Traitor Son

Author: Julie Kagawa

Genre: YA Fantasy

Series: The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten (Book 2)

Publication Date: September 2013

Synopsis: Give me at least a hint of what this book is to be about!!!! AHHHH!!

WHY I CANNOT WAIT: Besides the fact that this is my favorite author and this is my favorite series of all times, I cannot wait for The Traitor Son becuase of the multiple character arcs throughout the first book, The Lost Prince. Plus, I just read the novella that goes along with this particular series (The Iron Prophesy, the last Meghan, Ash and Puck adventure… *sniffs*). For me, it added so much more suspense to the series and gives us a general idea of what will happen in future books. But The Lost Prince introduced us to a whole new set of characters that I love and adore (although not quite as much as the original cast). The beautifully terrifying Nevernever and the conniving fey are back, this time with a new type of fey growing stronger, and they aren’t willing to negotiate.

Title: Shades of Earth

Author: Beth Revis

Genre: YA Science Fiction

Series: Across the Universe (Book 3)

Publication Date: January 13, 2013

Amy and Elder have finally left the oppressive walls of the spaceship Godspeed behind. They’re ready to start life afresh–to build a home–on Centauri-Earth, the planet that Amy has traveled 25 trillion miles across the universe to experience.

But this new Earth isn’t the paradise Amy had been hoping for. There are giant pterodactyl-like birds, purple flowers with mind-numbing toxins, and mysterious, unexplained ruins that hold more secrets than their stone walls first let on. The biggest secret of all? Godspeed‘s former passengers aren’t alone on this planet. And if they’re going to stay, they’ll have to fight.

Amy and Elder must race to discover who–or what–else is out there if they are to have any hope of saving their struggling colony and building a future together. They will have to look inward to the very core of what makes them human on this, their most harrowing journey yet. Because if the colony collapses? Then everything they have sacrificed–friends, family, life on Earth–will have been for nothing.

WHY I CANNOT WAIT: THE LAST BOOK IS ALMOST HERE! We’ve followed Amy and Elder as they uncovered the secrets of the spaceship Godspeed and now they’ve reached their final destination. The previous books took me on a plot-twist whirlwind as old characters and new try to reach the same goal: live on Centauri-Earth. From secrets to revealings, I’ve diligently followed Amy and Elder on their case to solve the secret of Godspeed, and now that they’ve uncovered it, I cannot wait to read how they react to it. There are so many strings still left undone that I wouldn’t be surprised if this book is 400+ pages. But please. GIVE ME AN ENDING.

Title: Scarlet

Author: Marissa Meyer

Genre: YA Science Fiction

Series: The Lunar Chronicles (Book 2)

Publication Date: February 5, 2013

Cinder returns in the second thrilling installment of the New York Times-bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive.

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother and the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she has no choice but to trust him, though he clearly has a few dark secrets of his own.

As Scarlet and Wolf work to unravel one mystery, they find another when they cross paths with Cinder. Together, they must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen who will do anything to make Prince Kai her husband, her king, her prisoner.

WHY I CANNOT WAIT: Have I mentioned how much I love retold fairytales? Not only do I get red riding hood in the TV show Once Upon a Time, now there’s a whole book dedicated to her! Okay, so however much I love red riding hood, I’m a little leery because Cinder left off at such as cliffhanger that I’m afraid my want for more Cinder will make me race through chapters about Scarlet. Nevertheless, I am impatiently waiting for this book to come out! (And for those who are as impatient as I, chapters 1-5 have been released for FREE on almost all ebook sellers!)

Title: The LAST Gallagher Girls Book!!! (Untitled)

Author: Ally Carter

Genre: YA Mystery

Series: The Gallagher Girls (Book 6)

Publication Date: TBA

Synopsis: Nothing. Nada. Not even a teaser. :(

WHY I CANNOT WAIT: It’s the LAST book. Words cannot describe my dismay and excitment for this book. I started reading this series when I was in middle school and now I get to finish it in my last year of high school. AHHH. Spies, secret agendas, spy boys, a spy school… and did I mention spies? I want an ending to this book so bad… but I also don’t want it to end. Cammie and the girls will always be one of my favorite stories either a year from now or 50. I suggest this series to any young girls who need an escape from ordinary school and ordinary boys–for an all-girls spy school and mysterious boys that might be good or bad…

Title: House of Hades

AuthorRick Riordan

Genre: YA Fantasy

Series: The Heroes of Olympus (Book 4)

Publication Date: October 2013

Synopsis: Considering Mark of Athena just came out, I think it’s acceptable that nothing has been released yet. Now if I actually like guessing what happens to Percy and Annabeth, is a whole ‘nother story. Stupid Rick-hangers.

WHY I CANNOT WAIT: Mark of Athena‘s cliffhanger… Just brutal. And as Percy and the gang’s story is getting closer to the end, the books seem to be getting more unpredictable and more complex. I have loved Riordan’s world of greek mythology and teenaged demigods since the first time I picked up The Lightning Theif four years ago. Percy and Annabeth have captured my heart since the very beginning and now their story is almost at its end. What I would pay for a sneak peek of the next book…

Title: Of Triton

Author: Anna Banks

Genre: YA Fantasy

Series: Of Poseidon (Book 2)

Publication Date: May 28, 2013

In this sequel to OF POSEIDON, Emma has just learned that her mother is a long-lost Poseidon princess, and now struggles with an identity crisis: As a Half-Breed, she’s a freak in the human world and an abomination in the Syrena realm below. Syrena law states that all Half- Breeds should be put to death.

As if that’s not bad enough, her mother’s reappearance among the Syrena turns the two kingdoms—Poseidon and Triton—against one another. Which leaves Emma with a decision to make: Should she comply with Galen’s request to keep herself safe and just hope for the best? Or should she risk it all and reveal herself—and her Gift—to save a people she’s never known?

WHY I CANNOT WAIT: Of Posedion‘s cliffhanger wasn’t quite torture, but it’s pretty darn close. The cover has just been revealed (isn’t it purrty?) Although it doesn’t reveal much about the story, I still love the Galen-Emma kiss. If the humor in Of Poseidon is any hint to the humor in Of Triton, then that alone would make me want more. Bank’s writing could not be more clever or witty. I cannot wait for more hilarious Emma moments, more mermaid drama and more Toraf!

Title: The Bitter Kingdom

Author: Rae Carson

Genre: YA Fantasy

Series: Fire and Thorns (Book 3)

Publication Date: TBA

Synopsis: The Crown of Embers came out a couple months so it’s normal that nothing has been released yet. BUT I NEED TO KNOW if Hector is okay. AHHHH pleeeease reveal a synopsis soon. *runs to twitter to complain*

WHY I CANNOT WAIT: The Crown of Embers = torture. Poor, poor Hector! But what’s even more discouraging is that this is the last book in the trilogy. Honestly, there is so much that needs to go on still I think this book might be 500 pages. Elisa has overcome so much already–now what? Whatever happens next I’m sure Carson will incorporate a great message to the audeince and an adventure that will have us on our toes.

Title: The LAST Divergent Book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (STILL untitled)

Author: Veronica Roth

Genre: YA Dystopian

Series: Divergent (Book 3)

Publication Date: September 26, 2013

Synopsis: Frustratingly, nothing has been released yet. Not even a title. WE NEED AN ENDING!

WHY I CANNOT WAIT: Seriously? We have to wait MORE THAN A YEAR to get the next book? The HORROR! So much suspense has led up to this last book and now… more waiting. Triss and Four have finally learned to trust each other, Dauntless has taken back their fortress and now a full-on rebellion has started. Secrets have been revealed. Trials have been overcome (literally and figuratively). Will the factions hold together? Will they achieve what they were truly made for? Verionica Roth if you’re reading this, a title at least would be appriciated!
