I Belong

Look Who’s Going to BEA: Kirsten Miller

1. Can you introduce yourself to my readers?

Hi! My name is Kirsten Miller, and I’m the author of the Kiki Strike book series (Inside the Shadow City and The Empress’s Tomb.)

My next novel (and first foray into the terrifying world of teen literature), The Eternal Ones will be published by Razorbill/Penguin in August. It’s a twisted tale of romance, reincarnation, and sinister secret societies. (But no vampires.)

2. Are there any special events, panels or galleys you are looking forward to?

To be perfectly honest, I still need to do my homework! (So embarrassing!) I’ve been a bit overwhelmed for the last five months or so. (See answer to #5.)

3. Will this be your first time attending BEA or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?

I’ve been twice before to promote the Kiki Strike books with Bloomsbury. My advice? Wear comfortable shoes. (I was in serious pain for much of my first BEA.) And bring a backpack with wheels (or a small mule). There’s so much stuff you’ll want to take home with you, and only so far you’ll be able to lug it all.

4. Will you be doing an autograph signing at the expo? Any other fun stuff on your agenda?

Yes! I’ll be at the Penguin booth on May 27th from 2:30 to 3:30. Come by and pick up a signed copy of The Eternal Ones! (Be sure to save a place on the mule. It’s not exactly a small book.)

5. What other projects are you working on that you would like to tell us about?

I’m finishing the sequel to The Eternal Ones. (Soon! Very soon! In case my editor is reading this.) Then I’m set to finish Kiki #3, The Darkness Dwellers.

After that, I think I might sleep for the next century or so.

(I should also mention my blogs at kikistrike.com and theeternalones.com, which are both devoted to all things weird and wonderful!)

Synopsis (Product Description):

What if love refused to die?

Haven Moore can’t control her visions of a past with a boy called Ethan, and a life in New York that ended in fiery tragedy. In our present, she designs beautiful dresses for her classmates with her best friend Beau. Dressmaking keeps her sane, since she lives with her widowed and heartbroken mother in her tyrannical grandmother’s house in Snope City, a tiny town in Tennessee. Then an impossible group of coincidences conspire to force her to flee to New York, to discover who she is, and who she was.

In New York, Haven meets Iain Morrow and is swept into an epic love affair that feels both deeply fated and terribly dangerous. Iain is suspected of murdering a rock star and Haven wonders, could he have murdered her in a past life? She visits the Ouroboros Society and discovers a murky world of reincarnation that stretches across millennia. Haven must discover the secrets hidden in her past lives, and loves¸ before all is lost and the cycle begins again.
