I’m the author of the Blue Bloods series.
Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
The Blue Bloods is about a group of NYC teenagers who discover they are part of a secret society of vampires who are fallen angels who were cast out of Paradise with Lucifer.
What should readers know before stepping into your world?
It would help if they were familiar with Christian mythology, but it’s not necessary. I think for those of us who grew up with these myths, it will resonate. But it’s still a great story even if you don’t know Lucifer’s Fall.
Will this be your first time attending BEA or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
I think this is my third or fourth time going to BEA. It’s a lot of fun. I would say to those going the first time – bring a huge bag! There will be a lot of books to carry around.
Are you speaking on any panels during BEA? Are there any you are looking forward to? What panels are you planning on attending?
Yes I am speaking on the YA-to-Adult panel with Melissa Marr and Ellen Hopkins, I’ve never been on a panel before, so I’m eager to do it. I haven’t seen the schedule yet – I always decide on these things last-minute. But I am looking forward the annual ABC Silent Auction, where you can buy illustrations from famous kid’s book artists. We have a Mo Willems in my daughter’s room, an Elephant and Piggie drawing that we treasure. I’m looking forward to bidding!
If someone wanted to meet up with you at BEA, who should they look for?
They should look for me at Table Six on May 24th! I’ll be signing books from 10:30-11:30 AM. Also, stop by the Hyperion booth – I’ll probably be lurking there.
