Not a Drop to Drink In a Handful of DustGiven to the SeaThe Female of the SpeciesA Madness So Discreet

Giventothe Sea-blog tour

DFT: Can you start off by telling us a little bit about GIVEN TO THE SEA?

Mindy: GIVEN TO THE SEA is set on an island country that is believed to be the only land that exists. It’s discovered that the seas are rising and aren’t going to stop. Panic ensues.

DFT: Khosa has an interesting destiny and I imagine she was a fun character to write! What do you think is her best attribute?

Mindy: Her brains! She’s going to save herself (and everyone else) by doing what she does best – figuring something out!

DFT: I always love a hot prince and I think Vincent fits that role rather well! What is one of your favorite things about him?

Mindy: Honestly? Vincent is totally not my type. But, I can say that I admire his honesty – with himself, and others.

DFT: Dara and Donil are twins and the last of their kind! What is best about them individually and what is best about them as a pair?

Mindy: Great question! Individually, Dara is emotion, raw and seething. Donil is more compassionate. Together, they round each other out and present a better whole.

DFT: Witt is determined to save the people he loves no matter what the consequences are. What do you think is his most endearing quality?

Mindy: Poor, poor, Witt. (He’s the one I would take, personally). I think the most endearing thing about him is how much suffering he’s willing to take onto his own shoulders for the sake of his people.

DFT: If you can without spoiling anything, will you tell us your favorite scene to write?

Mindy: Anything with Dara. She spins insults faster than I can type them.

DFT: Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe GIVEN TO THE SEA is a standalone. Can you give us any hints as to what you are working on next?

Mindy: Oh, definitely let me correct you :D GIVEN TO THE EARTH will be coming in the Spring of 2018!

About this Book:

Khosa is Given to the Sea, a girl born to be fed to the water, her flesh preventing a wave like the one that destroyed the Kingdom of Stille in days of old. But before she’s allowed to dance – an uncontrollable twitching of the limbs that will carry her to the shore in a frenzy – she must produce an heir. Yet the thought of human touch sends shudders down her spine that not even the sound of the tide can match.

Vincent is third in line to inherit his throne, royalty in a kingdom where the old linger and the young inherit only boredom. When Khosa arrives without an heir he knows his father will ensure she fulfills her duty, at whatever cost. Torn between protecting the throne he will someday fill, and the girl whose fate is tied to its very existence, Vincent’s loyalty is at odds with his heart.

Dara and Donil are the last of the Indiri, a native race whose dwindling magic grows weaker as the island country fades. Animals cease to bear young, creatures of the sea take to the land, and the Pietra – fierce fighters who destroyed the Indiri a generation before – are now marching from their stony shores for the twin’s adopted homeland, Stille.

Witt leads the Pietra, their army the only family he has ever known. The stone shores harbor a secret, a growing threat that will envelop the entire land – and he will conquer every speck of soil to ensure the survival of his people.

The tides are turning in Stille, where royals scheme, Pietrans march, and the rising sea calls for its Given.

The rising sea levels make this a very timely story. I like characters with brains so I think I’d really love Given to the Sea.
