Have you ever tried any of the book subscription boxes? I received the July Lit Joy Crate box and this is my very first time ever getting a bookish box. I am going to be honest, I can see how this is totally addicting! I can’t believe the care that goes into making these boxes so perfect! The content was so unique and the book sounds absolutely amazing! Here is what the box contained:

13724750_662879770527582_182625599_n

  • A copy of Riverkeep by Martin Stewart
  • A signed book plate as well a letter written by the author
  • A gorgeous copy of The Wizard of Oz from @rockpaperbooks!
  • A cute whale tattoo from @litographs
  • An adorable button designed by @eviebookish
  • A hook necklace with hope inscribed on it
  • A beautiful map from the book (I loved the burned edges) .

Isn’t that such a beautiful box!!! I was seriously so impressed by everything in it and I can’t wait to see what the August box will contain! The theme for August is gothic mystery. If you’re interested in trying out Lit Joy Crate make sure to order your box ASAP they sell out very quickly and use code BRIDGET10 to get 10% off your first order!!!

Top Ten of 2015: Books I am most looking forward to in 2016

December 25th, 2015 Bridget Posted in Book Talk 3 Comments »

This post is totally going up late but I wanted to participate in the final day of the Top Ten of 2015 hosted by Two Chick On Books,  Fiktshun, Tales of a Ravenous Reader, and Magical Urban Fantasy Reads ! Today’s topic is the top ten books I am looking forward to in 2016! There are so many amazing books coming out this next year and I had a really hard time keeping this list to ten, so I decided to add a couple of honorable mentions!

1. And I Darken by Kiersten White

This is hands down my most anticipated book of 2016! First of all, it is written by Kiersten White and she is one of my favorite authors. Then it has a gorgeous cover and finally, it is based off of the person who became Count Dracula only instead of it being a man it is a woman!!! So excited for this one!

2. The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson

I am such a huge fan of this series and I can’t wait to see how it ends!

3. Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

I have actually had the chance to read this one already and I LOVED it!!! It’s a high fantasy with a western feel to it. I have already pre-ordered my finished copy and recommend you all do so as well!!!

4. The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye

This one just sounds amazing and that cover is stunning!

5. The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury

I have also had the pleasure of reading this one as well! It is a gorgeous retelling of Aladdin and I loved it! I have also pre-ordered a finished copy of this one!

6. The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi

This one sounds really intriguing and if you haven’t noticed I am a big fantasy fan, so I am really looking forward to this one!

 7. Clanless by Jennifer Jenkins

This one doesn’t have a cover yet because it doesn’t come out until next fall, but I am so looking forward to this book! I loved the first book and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

8. Ruined by Amy Tintera

I am a huge fan of Amy’s Rebel series and I can’t wait to read more from her. Plus, this book just sounds amazing!!!

9. Ever the Hunted by Erin Summerill

I LOVE this cover and the synopsis is very intriguing! Betrayal, forbidden romance, and she is a bounty hunter. I mean who doesn’t want to read this!!!

10. Into the Dim by Janet B. Taylor

This is another one I have read and it was amazing! It’s a time travel book filled with great adventure, cute boys, and a wonderful heroine. If you haven’t added this one to your TBR’s, do so now!

Honorable Mentions:

P.S. I Like You by Kasie West

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

Warrior Witch by Danielle L. Jensen

The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh

There are many more books I wanted to add to this list, but it would have gotten way to long. I can’t wait for 2016 and the amazing books that are coming! Which books are you most excited about?

Top Ten of 2015: Book Boyfriends

December 24th, 2015 Bridget Posted in Book Talk 1 Comment »

The amazing bloggers from Two Chicks on Books, Fiktshun, Magical Urban Fantasy Reads, and Tales of a Ravenous Reader have put together a fun event where we all talk about our favorite books from 2015! Each day we will have a new topic we are going to cover and today’s topic is Favorite Book Boyfriends in 2015! I have to admit that I tend to fall in love with fictional boys quite often, but there are only a select few that I would actually consider a book boyfriend!

The Fill-In Boyfriend10. Hayden from the Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West

Hayden is such a sweet guy and his nerdy personality was adorable. I love how kind and caring he was to everyone! And finally his relationship with Gia was totally swoon worthy!!!

The Start of Me and You9. Max from The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord

Max is also an adorable nerdy guy that I fell hard for. One thing I really liked about him was that he didn’t care what other people thought of him. He was confident with who he is and I found that totally sexy!

The Witch Hunter8. John from The Witch Hunter by Virginia Boecker

I was instantly drawn to John’s goodness and kind heart. He is an amazing healer but he is totally humble about it. Then to top it, he is tall, dark, and handsome! What’s not to love???

PERSUASION7. Eight from Persuasion by Martina Boone

Eight is one of those people you instantly like. He is kind, sweet, charming, and it doesn’t hurt that he will always try to give you your hearts greatest desires :) ! He is extremely patient and treats Barrie like a queen.

Hidden Huntress6. Tristan from Hidden Huntress by Danielle L. Jensen

Tristan is one of those guys that is a mystery. One minute he can be a total jerk and the next he can be so sweet. As his story unfolds you can’t help but fall madly in love with him!

Rook5. Rene from Rook by Sharon Cameron

Rene is a stuck-up aristocrat that comes across as an idiot, but as you get to know him you learn he is so much more! I loved his intelligence and wit and he is just an all around great guy!

A Court of Thorns and Roses4. Tamlin from A Court of Thorns and Roses

Tamlin has many layers and as each one was peeled away I fell more and more in love with him. He is strong, kind, gorgeous, and just an amazing hero. I am excited to continue his story in the next book.

A Mad Zombie Party3. Cole from A Mad Zombie Party by Gena Showalter

I have been madly in love with Cole since the first book in this series and my affection for him has grown in each book. He is a dark, moody, sexy man that will capture your heart. I have always had a thing for bad boys and he is always going to be one of my all time favorite book boyfriends.

Shadow Study2. Valek from Shadow Study by Maria V. Synder

I am fairly new to the Poison Study series but once I started them I was an instant fan! Valek is once a again one of those irresistible bad boys I can’t help but love. He is dangerous, sexy, confident, intelligent, loyal, and kind. If you haven’t read this series yet you must!

Sweet Temptation1. Kai from Sweet Temptation by Wendy Higgins

At the moment I would have to say that Kai is the king of my book boyfriends. When I think of the perfect bad boy he is the first person to come to my mind. With his hot British accent, and his ridiculous good looks it is hard not to find him very attractive. He is a very tortured person but he tries really hard to be a good person. I love that he finds something beautiful in everyone! Sadly, his story has come to an end but he will always hold a special place in my heart!

Top Ten of 2015: Best Covers

December 22nd, 2015 Bridget Posted in Book Talk 2 Comments »

The amazing bloggers from Two Chicks on Books, Fiktshun, Magical Urban Fantasy Reads, and Tales of a Ravenous Reader have put together a fun event where we all talk about our favorite books from 2015! Each day we will have a new topic we are going to cover and today’s topic is the best book covers in 2015! I am a total cover snob and I will definitely buy a book solely because I love the cover! I had a really hard time keeping this list to just ten but I was able to narrow it down to these beauties! So without further ado feast your eyes on my favorite covers this year!

Never Never10. Never Never by Brianna R. Shrum

I love the eerie look of the ship and the blood smudge by the title. By looking at this cover you can totally tell it is a retelling of Peter Pan and that is exactly what a cover is supposed to do. I actually haven’t read this book yet, but I just recently got a copy and plan to read it soon!

ENSNARED9. Ensnared by A.G. Howard

The Splintered Series has some of my all time favorite covers! They fit the books perfectly and the color schemes they use are just perfection! Plus, they totally scream Wonderland with all the little elements they added to them. Out of the series, I think Unhinged is my favorite cover but Ensnared is gorgeous as well!

Crimson Bound8. Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge

The staircase in this one is just gorgeous and the girl with the red hood lets you know that it is a Little Red Riding Hood retelling. I also like that the C&B are in a different font then the rest of the title, it makes it pop out more!

Mechanica_hres7. Mechanica by Betsy Cornwell

This cover is gorgeous to look at. I love how they blended all the different elements of the story like the wheels that represent the steampunk element, how the girl is holding a glass slipper, and then the castle underneath it all. Just everything about this cover was perfect!

Rook6. Rook by Sharon Cameron

When I first saw this cover I was like wow, that is a really cool cover. The more I looked at it the more I was intrigued. There is so much going on in the bottom half that really represents the book perfectly. Then you add in the feathers which are a really important part of the story. I loved this book and this cover was perfect!
TenThousand hc c 5. Ten Thousand Skies Above You by Claudia Gray

While I didn’t quite like this cover as much as the first book, I still appreciate how amazing it is. The MC in the story is a painter and the way this looks like a painting with the paint splatters is so cool. Plus, the way they incorporated the cities visited in the book is so unique! The cover designers for this series do a fantastic job and I can’t wait to see the cover for the last book!

Hold Me Like a Breath4. Hold Me Like A Breath by Tiffany Schmidt

I love the shattering butterfly on this cover and the use of symbolism in this cover was very interesting. The dark background with the gate represents how the MC is trapped in her own life and the breaking butterfly represents her finally getting out. I really enjoyed this story and I love the cover!

An Ember in the Ashes3. An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

When I first saw this cover I was in awe! It was so cool looking and it definitely made me want to know more about the book. The color scheme is unique and eye catching with with gold lettering. I did notice that the paperback copy got a new cover which makes me nervous because I really want book two to match this cover!

A Whole New World2. A Whole New World by Liz Branswell

This cover is so unique and gorgeous! By looking at it, I automatically know it is an Aladdin retelling and the silhouette of the girl is cool. I have not read this book yet and honestly I haven’t heard the best things, but I want to own it just because it is beautiful!!!

The Sin Eater's Daughter1. The Sin Eaters Daughter by Melinda Salisbury

There was no competition when it came to my favorite cover of the year. This cover is one of the coolest covers I have ever seen! The coloring is beautiful and it fits the book so well. I loved this book and I can’t wait to read book two (which also has a GORGEOUS cover)!

What did you think of my list? What were some of your favorite covers from this year? Let me know in the comments!

Top Ten of 2015: Best Books of 2015

December 21st, 2015 Bridget Posted in Book Talk 3 Comments »

The amazing bloggers from Two Chicks on Books, Fiktshun, Magical Urban Fantasy Reads, and Tales of a Ravenous Reader have put together a fun event where we all talk about our favorite books from 2015! Each day we will have a new topic we are going to cover and today’s topic is Best Books I read in 2015.

Silver in the Blood10. Silver in the Blood by Jessica Day George

This was such a fun story to read. The characters were interesting, the setting was captivating and this was just an all around entertaining read! I have always been a huge fan of Jessica Day George and this is my favorite book from her!

Vengeance Road9. Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman

With its Western setting, adorable romance and spunky MC this was just an all around fantastic read for me. Plus, I adore the cover for this book its unique and fits the book so well.

Stolen SongbirdHidden Huntress8. Stolen Songbird & Hidden Huntress by Danielle E. Jensen

I discovered this series this year and I fell completely in love with it. It is so unique and different then anything else I have ever read, plus it features trolls!!!

The Wrath & The Dawn7. The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

This is a gorgeously woven romance filled with suspense and lots of sexy times! I loved the witty and passionate MC, and the plot in this story was very intriguing! I felt like the Arabian setting was popular in YA books this year and out of all the ones I read this was the best one!

The Fill-In Boyfriend6. The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West

I absolutely adore everything Kasie West writes. She creates these stories that make you want to fall in love again for the first time. They are cute, fun and completely heartwarming stories and The Fill-In Boyfriend was no exception! Every year I look forward to her books and she never dissapoints.

Nowhere But Here5. Nowhere But Here by Katie McGarry

This was an emotional coming of age story. I connected really well with the MC and I fell madly in love with the book boy! I also loved how the motorcycle club tied into it all. I’m not really a SOA fan but I find the whole atmosphere intriguing!

The Witch Hunter4. The Witch Hunter by Virginia Boecker

I read this book more at the beginning of the year and I still remember how much I loved it. It has amazing characters, and action packed plot, and epic romance. Suffice to say it was just a phenomenal read!
TenThousand hc c3. Ten Thousand Skies Above You by Claudia Gray

The first book in this series was spectacular and I was really looking forward to reading this one! It did not disappoint!  The world build is extraordinarily and the characters are so lovable! But it does have a horrible cliffhanger ending that has left me dying to read book 3!
Nameless_450x6752. Nameless by Jennifer Jenkins

I have no words to express how much I thoroughly enjoyed this book! My good friend Jaime from Two Chicks on Books told me I was going to love this and she was totally right. I picked it up and could not put it down! From the very first page the action begins and I was on the edge of my seat the entire way through. If you are a fantasy fan you have to pick up this book!

The Heart of Betrayal1. The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson

The Kiss of Deception was my favorite read of last year, it may even be my all-time favorite read ever, so obviously I had extremely high expectations for its sequel. I was actually nervous to read this one because there have been so many times where I was so excited for a book and it let me down. Luckily that was not the case with The Heart of Betrayal! It was just as good as the first book and left me dying to read the last book! If you have not read this series yet you need to remedy that right away!!!!

What do you think of my list? Have you read any of these books? What were your favorite reads of 2015? Make sure to let me know in the comments!!!
