Look Who’s Going to BEA: Leah Clifford

May 20th, 2011 Angela Posted in Conventions Comments Off on Look Who’s Going to BEA: Leah Clifford

Can you introduce yourself to my readers?

Sure! I’m Leah Clifford, and I wrote A Touch Mortal. Before I started writing, I worked as an extreme cave tour guide and a flight attendant!

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?

The world of A Touch Mortal is very dark.  It revolves around the strange afterlife of the Siders, teens trapped between life and death and whose Touch spreads chaos to mortals.

What should readers know before stepping into your world?

Hot boys with wings are usually trouble, and best avoided.

Will this be your first time attending BEA or are you a veteran?  Any advice for those who are going for the first time?

First timer! Can’t wait! So excited to meet everyone!

Are you speaking on any panels during BEA?  Are there any you are looking forward to? What panels are you planning on attending?

I’m going to be speaking on panels at the Teen Author Carnival, which is from 4-7 on Monday at the Mulberry Street Library! For more information go to here.

If someone wanted to meet up with you at BEA, who should they look for?

Well, the best way to see what I look like is to check out my latest vlog on the YA Rebels where I put up a vlog every other Thursday!  I’ll also be signing Tuesday from 2:30-3:00 at Table 5! Don’t be shy! If you see me come say hello!

Look Who’s Going to BEA: Scott Tracey

May 20th, 2011 Angela Posted in Conventions Comments Off on Look Who’s Going to BEA: Scott Tracey

Can you introduce yourself to my readers?

I was born and raised in Ohio, and I currently live three minutes away from the house I spent my teenage years in.  My first novel, Witch Eyes, will be released on September 8th.

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?

Belle Dam is a town full of secrets, and divided by a feud that’s  been inherited through the generations.  When Braden, a boy who suffers under a power known as the witch eyes arrives, he learns that the feud is supernatural in origin, and both sides desire his power.  They’ll use anyone, manipulate everyone; and even attempt murder, in order to possess him.

What should readers know before stepping into your world?

I’m fairly sarcastic, and that is something that I think comes out a lot in my writing.  Also, Braden is gay, and the book features a romance.

Will this be your first time attending BEA or are you a veteran?  Any advice for those who are going for the first time?

This is my first event of any kind to attend, so I’m a total newbie.  My master plan is to find people who’ve done this before and become their best friend so they’ll tell me what to expect.

Are you speaking on any panels during BEA?  Are there any you are looking forward to?  What panels are you planning on attending?

I’m attending the Teen Author Carnival, which takes place the Monday night before BEA, along with a number of other YA authors, and speaking on one of the panels there.  Other than that, I’m hoping to attend the Young Adult Editor’s BUZZ panel on Tuesday.

If someone wanted to meet up with you at BEA, who should they look for?

Well, I’m doing a signing at the Flux book on Tuesday morning at 9:30, so that would be the best place to start.  Other than that, I expect it will be three days of me clinging on to whatever group of authors/bloggers that will have me.

Look Who’s Going to BEA: Amy Garvey

May 19th, 2011 Angela Posted in Conventions Comments Off on Look Who’s Going to BEA: Amy Garvey

Can you introduce yourself to my readers?

My name is Amy Garvey, and my YA debut, COLD KISS, is coming out from HarperTeen in September 2011. I’m a former editor for Kensington Publishing, and I’ve previously written romance.

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?

Wren’s world is very much like any other teen’s, except she has powers she doesn’t know how to control or explain. When her boyfriend dies in a car accident, she can’t think of anything but how to bring him back — and she does. But it doesn’t work out quite the way she thought it would …

What should readers know before stepping into your world?

That Wren is very much a normal high school kid, grieving over the first boy she ever loved, and trying really hard to balance all the pieces of her life — her friends, her family  the secrets her mom has been keeping about her family’s powers, the new boy who’s a little too interested in her (and a little too attractive for his own good), and her not-dead-anymore boyfriend, who isn’t exactly the boy she lost.

Are there any special events, panels or galleys you are looking forward to?

I’m just excited to see the whole event!

Will this be your first time attending BEA or are you a veteran?  Any advice for those who are going for the first time?

I haven’t been to BEA before, even as an editor, so I’m really interested to see what it’s like!

Will you be doing an autograph signing at the expo? Any other fun stuff on your agenda?

I’m not sure, to be honest! I’m going to be there on May 25 at 11:30 a.m., in the HarperTeen booth.

What other projects are you working on that you would like to tell us about?

I’m finishing up the sequel to COLD KISS now, and I’m really happy to be telling more of Wren’s story.

Look Who’s Going to BEA: Kate Garrabrant

May 18th, 2011 Angela Posted in Conventions Comments Off on Look Who’s Going to BEA: Kate Garrabrant

Can you introduce yourself to my readers?

KT: As a blogger, I’m better known as Katiebabs who runs the blog, Babblings About Books, and More since 2008. As an author, I’m KT Grant. I write Lesbian, M/M (Gay) and Straight romance for various epublishers. I’ve been blogging for 4 years and a published author for a year.

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?

KT: My worlds involve two people meeting, falling for one another and working through both internal and external issues in order to get that happily ever after they both deserve. My books are either in a historical or contemporary setting.

What should readers know before stepping into your world?

KT: I make my characters suffer before they can find happiness, and my love scenes tend to be more on the steamy side. You may need a fan or a tall glass of ice water on hand while reading.

Are there any special events, panels or galleys you are looking forward to?

KT: I’m very excited to attend BEA this year, and I’ll be attending the Book Blogger Conference where I’ll be on one of the panels there called, Blogging for a Niche Market representing as the romance book blog.

Will this be your first time attending BEA or are you a veteran?  Any advice for those who are going for the first time?

KT: I went to BEA back in 2009. For first timers I would recommend you wear comfortable shoes, bottles of water and bring at least 2 big bags because you’ll have too many books to hold. Most importantly, take your time and don’t feel you have to rush. It can be a very overwhelming experience, but a lot of fun. And don’t be afraid if you’re alone and think no one will talk to you. There will be many authors, industry types and bloggers who will be more than welcome to chat with you.

Will you be doing an autograph signing at the expo? Any other fun stuff on your agenda?

KT: Since I’m only published digitally and BEA is geared more toward traditional publishing, I’m not signing. My plan is to scope out the publishers’ booths and tables, and attend author signings and some nighttime parties during the week where I can network and meet even more people.

What other projects are you working on that you would like to tell us about?

KT: I just released a lesbian romantic thriller called, Sleeping with the Frenemy from Ravenous Romance. Also to be published this year is a M/M Contemporary Romance called Burning for You, and a short M/M Contemporary Romance called, A Bid for Love for Decadent Publishing’s new One Night Stand series. I also sold a short Erotic Steampunk called Brass Balls and Hysteria to L&L Dreamspell for one of their erotic anthologies and I have a Straight Contemporary Romance called Xavier’s Loving Arms coming from Decadent Publishing. Plus, my two short Contemporary Romances that came out last year called For the Love of Mollie and The Claiming of Suzy will be out in print together under the title, Sweet and Sinful, published from Decadent Publishing in a few weeks.

As you can see, I’m one busy bee author and blogger :-D

Look Who’s Going to BEA: Kristen Painter

May 18th, 2011 Angela Posted in Conventions 3 Comments »

Can you introduce yourself to my readers?

My name is Kristen Painter and while you might know me for my paranormal romances, I’ve got a brand new gothic urban fantasy series coming out this fall from Orbit Books. The first book in the series, Blood Rights, will be available October 1st.

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?

The world I’ve created is populated by vampires, shape shifters, fae and some creatures of my own making. Namely, the comarre, a hybrid human race created specifically to serve the needs of noble vampires.

What should readers know before stepping into your world?

There isn’t too much anyone needs to know before they start reading the House of Comarre series. Just turn the page and dive in! The series is set about fifty years into the future, but the world is still very accessible. And full of vampires.

Are there any special events, panels or galleys you are looking forward to?

Mostly I’m looking forward to taking the whole BEA experience in, getting to see some friends and meeting the rest of the awesome Orbit crew!

Will this be your first time attending BEA or are you a veteran?  Any advice for those who are going for the first time?

First time!

Will you be doing an autograph signing at the expo? Any other fun stuff on your agenda?

I’ll be signing at the Orbit book at 10 AM on Thursday. I’d love to meet anyone who wants to stop by and say hello.

What other projects are you working on that you would like to tell us about?

The first three books come out this October, November and December so obviously those books are written. What I’m working on now is the writing of the fourth and fifth books in the series.
