Cover Reveal

January 16th, 2018 Kristie Posted in Cover Reveal No Comments »

Today, I am looking at a couple covers that are new to me. I am really excited about both of these because I didn’t even know about them until I was looking for some covers for today’s post. First up is The Boneless Mercies by April Genevieve Tucholke! This is a gender-bent re-imagining of Beowulf! This is what Goodreads has to say about it:  “Farrar, Straus and Giroux has acquired The Boneless Mercies, a gender-bent Beowulf re-imagining in which four mercenary girls chase glory and honor by battling a monster that’s been terrorizing a nearby earldom. Publication is slated for Fall 2018.” I am a huge fan of Beowulf and have read several different re-imaginings of it and I cannot wait for this one! Plus, this cover is just gorgeous! Although, I do think it reminds me a bit of The Darker Shade of Magic covers.

This next cover is for Spinning Silver by Naomi Novak. I had not seen this cover before until today and I thought it was a sequel to Uprooted but it is not, it isn’t even a companion novel. They share similar covers though so I’m not surprised I thought that. Spinning Silver is a re-imagining story about Rumpelstiltskin. I really like this cover and the color of it, I keep seeing something new every time I look at the cover. This cover reminds me of older style novels and I think it will look great with my copy of Uprooted! If you want to check out more about this book, read Chapter 1 here.

About this Book:

Miryem is the daughter and granddaughter of moneylenders… but her father isn’t a very good one. Free to lend and reluctant to collect, he has loaned out most of his wife’s dowry and left the family on the edge of poverty–until Miryem steps in. Hardening her heart against her fellow villagers’ pleas, she sets out to collect what is owed–and finds herself more than up to the task. When her grandfather loans her a pouch of silver pennies, she brings it back full of gold.

But having the reputation of being able to change silver to gold can be more trouble than it’s worth–especially when her fate becomes tangled with the cold creatures that haunt the wood, and whose king has learned of her reputation and wants to exploit it for reasons Miryem cannot understand.

What do you think of these covers? Are you planning to read either of them?

This sharp, thrilling crossover novel is a mash-up of Game Of Thrones meets An Ember in the Ashes,” and is inspired by the historical events behind the real Dracula—

Lada despises the Ottomans and bides her time, planning her vengeance for the day when she can return to Wallachia and claim her birthright. Radu longs only for a place where he feels safe. And when they meet Mehmed, the defiant and lonely son of the sultan, who’s expected to rule a nation, Radu feels that he’s made a true friend—and Lada wonders if she’s finally found someone worthy of her passion.
