Taking Cover: 6 Hot New Covers

I’ve got a few new covers to show to everyone.  First up is Sirensong by Jenna Black.  Jenna unveiled the beautiful cover art today for Sirensong, which is the third book in her Faeriewalker series. The book is scheduled to be released on July 5, 2011.  I really like this new cover.  The colors and the white background are a nice change from the two previous darker covers.  No official blurb yet for the book.

Here is the cover art for Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake, which is the first book in her new Anna Dressed in Blood series.  The book is scheduled to be released in September 2011.  This cover has a very atmospheric feel and look to it.  I like the cover.  The blowing hair seems to be the next cover art trend.

Synopsis (Product Description):

Just your average boy-meets-girl, girl-kills-people story. . .

Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.

So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father’s mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.

When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn’t expect anything outside of the ordinary: move, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he’s never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.

And she, for whatever reason, spares his life.

Here is the cover art for Passion by Lauren Kate, which is the third book in her Fallen series.  The book is scheduled to be released on June 14, 2011.  I’m not a big fan of this cover at all.  The dress and the sky aren’t really that appealing.

Here is the final cover art Kindling the Moon by Jenn Bennett, which is the first book in her new Arcadia Bell urban fantasy series.  The book is scheduled to be released on June 28, 2011.  I really like this final cover.

Synopsis (Product Description):

Being the spawn of two infamous occultists (and alleged murderers) isn’t easy, but freewheeling magician Arcadia “Cady” Bell knows how to make the best of a crummy situation. After hiding out for seven years, she’s carved an incognito niche for herself slinging drinks at the demon-friendly Tambuku Tiki Lounge.

But she receives an ultimatum when unexpected surveillance footage of her notorious parents surfaces: either prove their innocence or surrender herself. Unfortunately, the only witness to the crimes was an elusive Æthyric demon, and Cady has no idea how to find it. She teams up with Lon Butler, an enigmatic demonologist with a special talent for sexual spells and an arcane library of priceless stolen grimoires. Their research soon escalates into a storm of conflict involving missing police evidence, the decadent Hellfire Club, a ruthless bounty hunter, and a powerful occult society that operates way outside the law. If Cady can’t clear her family name soon, she’ll be forced to sacrifice her own life . . . and no amount of running will save her this time.

Here is the cover art for Darkness Unbound by Keri Arthur, which is the first book in her new Dark Angel urban fantasy series.  The book is scheduled to be released in October 2011.  As urban fantasy covers go, I think this one is just okay.  I like the fonts, but there doesn’t seem to be much of an atmospheric background.

Synopsis (Product Description):

Risa Jones is as extraordinary as her heritage. Born from a lab-enhanced clone mother and an Aedh father, she can not only talk to the souls of the dying and the dead, but she can see the reapers and walk the gray fields that divide this world from the next.

They are skills she rarely uses, however, preferring to concentrate on the business she shares with her two best friends. But when her mother asks her to help the parents of a little girl locked in a coma, she reluctantly agrees. What she discovers scares the hell out of her. Because the little girl’s soul no longer resides in her body, and it wasn’t death and the reapers that took her.

Someone had ripped her soul from her flesh. As it turns out, a creature consuming the souls of the innocent–and not so innocent–is the least of her problems. Because someone wants to rip open the gates that divided hell from earth, and Risa is a key component in their plans. And the only person standing between her and disaster is a reaper who isn’t exactly on her side.

Here is the cover art for My Life as A White Trash Zombie by Diana Rowland.  This is the first book in her new White Trash Zombie series.  The book is scheduled to be released on July 5, 2011.  I love everything about this cover.  Dan Dos Santos has created another stunning cover.  I can’t wait to read this one.

The Faeriewalker covers are always so beautiful :)

I agree with the Passion one. I love Fallen and Torments cover, but the third kind of lacks the beauty. I’m surprised that this book is coming out before September 2011.

I love all the covers except Passion. I saw it and wanted to tell someone to feed the girl a cheeseburger or something! I also didn’t like the way the went with the colors. So disappointing because I loved the covers of the first two books.

Wow! Sirensong has such a great cover! I think it’s my favorite for the series yet! The Passion one’s just okay in my opinion…

I hate the cover for Passion, too!! It’s unbelievably fake– like a bad Photoshop picture or something. But Sirensong is gorgeous, and so is Anna Dressed in Blood. I showed my sister the White Trash Zombie cover… so funny to see her reaction. Anyway, cool picks.
