Deadly Destinations ventures to the sun-drenched shores of San Diego. Jeanne gives us the scoop on where the fabulous Anna Strong lives. Haunted, the eighth book in the Anna Strong Chronicles, hits the shelves today! One lucky winner will receive a copy of Haunted. A big thanks to Penguin/Ace for this giveaway!
My protagonist, Anna Strong, is a vampire. She lives in San Diego on a real street in Mission Beach. Because I couldn’t imagine anyone living in San Diego who couldn’t go out in the sun, the vampires in my world have adapted to sunlight. They are indistinguishable from you or me. They walk amongst us. If you happen to brush up against one however, or shake a vampire’s hand, you know immediately this is no normal human being. A vampire’s skin is icy cold.
Anna’s adventures have taken her to many locations, the newest Haunted, takes place in Mexico. But I thought it might be more interesting to show you her city, her street, her home.
Mission Beach is a bedroom community just a little north of San Diego, located between Pacific Beach and Belmont Park. Anna lives in the heart of MB on Isthmus Court.
She lives in a cottage recently rebuilt after the original, a gift from her grandparents, burned to the ground.
In the earlier books, Anna spent a lot of time at the Headquarters of Supernatural Beings in Balboa Park. It’s a clandestine organization located in the bowels of the Museum of Natural History.
There’s a secret entrance located behind the palms, hidden by a mystical waterfall. But don’t waste your time looking for it—you have to be invited to gain access.
Anna’s day job, bounty hunting, is operated out of the office she shares with partners David and Tracey. It’s located near Seaport Village with a back deck that affords them a view of the harbor and San Diego skyline.
Anna would like to have been here to give you the tour herself, but she’s out of the country on family business. The pictures were taken for her by friends LaRay and Nicole Gillison. We hope you’ve enjoyed this brief glimpse into Anna’s world. Her newest adventure, Haunted, takes her deep in Mexico. She was a little too busy to take pictures though. When you read the book, you’ll understand why.
