Welcome to the world of the Shadow Keepers…

Hey you.  That’s right—you, the human out there reading this post.  You think all that stuff you read in your urban fantasy novels and your paranormal romances is make-believe?  Just some safe fantasy with demons and vampires and werewolves and God only know what else?

Is that what you think?

Well, you’re wrong.

All those creatures you thought were the stuff of nightmares? The boogey-men in the closet? The monster under the bed?  All those creatures you thought were make-believe?  They’re not.  They’re real, and they populate your world.  This world.  They live right here among you.  Might even be the guy who owns the corner store (though chances are if he’s a vamp, there’s a blood bar behind the cooler).  Maybe he’s your next door neighbor.

Maybe he’s on the prowl.

It’s the world of the shadows, my friend.  And it’s populated by every creature you can imagine.  Vampires.  Werewolves.  Succubi.  Daemons.  Jinns.  Shapeshifters.  Witches.  Poltergeist. Trolls.  And so many more.

I should know.  My name’s Simon and I’m – well, let’s just say I’m not like you.  I’m one of them.  I work at the PEC—the Preternatural Enforcement Coalition.  It’s a good job.  Nice, steady work.  Solid pay.  Decent benefits.  The coffee in the employee lounge is for shit, but there’s a Starbuck’s just down the street.

Where are we located?  Well, I’m in Los Angeles, and that means I work out of the Criminal Justice Building.  We’re hidden in several levels of sub-basements, but most of the time we come to work just like everyone else—right through the main entrance with all the humans. (Well, not the trolls.  They use the private parking level elevators).

In the United States, the PEC is hidden within Homeland Security and tagged as Division 6.  Only the top level folks in the government know the truth.  It’s a secret we work very hard to keep.  We’ve got offices all over the U.S.  Hell, all over the world.

Of course, the PEC’s been around a lot longer than Homeland has.  We’ve been operating really since the dawn of time.  Since the days of the Covenant, back when the ancient Sumerians were writing with triangles and blocks and shit like that.  We’ve sworn to stay hidden.  To protect the humans.  To police ourselves.

So we have our own agents, our own lawyers, our own judges, our own jailers.  It’s one stop shopping in the PEC.

And we’re all over the globe.

So you want to know about our world?  Forget it.  There’s nothing to know.  Our world is your world.  But you don’t see us.

Not unless you look deep into the shadows…

About this Book:

Half human, half daemon, Ryan Doyle is a driving force for justice. As an agent for the Preternatural Enforcement Coalition, he’s investigating murders linked to a Los Angeles fringe group bent on exposing the shadow world to humanity. He is a master of self-control, keeping his deepest hungers hidden beneath a veneer of cool professionalism. Until he crosses paths with sinfully sweet Andy Tarrent, a gutsy reporter who makes him crave all the pleasures he’s denied himself for centuries.

Tracking a band of conspiracy theorists eager to spill blood, Andy has uncovered the story of her career. Brooding, mysterious Ryan is an enigma—but their dance of seduction is hotter than any fantasy. As they race to stop mass murder on the streets, Andy knows that Ryan is holding back, keeping secrets. But getting close to Ryan means opening the door to a world that will challenge her deepest beliefs—including what it means to truly surrender to love.
