Deadly Destinations: Rochester, New York
My name’s Jace McCannon. I’m a werewolf hunter for the Execution Underground—the best damn one on the East Coast, and anyone who claims otherwise can shove it. I hear from my asshole division leader, Damon, that you’re looking to make a trip here to Rochester. I don’t know why the hell you’d want to come to this supernatural infested shithole, but I guess I’ll follow orders and give you the grand tour of my hometown.
Let me start off by saying that Rochester has two kinds of weather a year: hot and humid as all fucking hell and freeze your balls off cold. Normally, it’s the later of the two, but lucky for you, you get the hot and humid part. If you’re a hunter that means finding a way to hide all the artillery you’re going to need is gonna suck ass. Because believe me when I say you’re going to need it. I didn’t say supernatural shithole for nothing. That’s the only way to describe Rochester. Come prepared for any type of supernatural creature you even remotely learned about in basic training. Rochester isn’t just home to a shit ton of werewolves. We’ve got vampires, demons, witches, shapeshifters, ghosts, you name it. See: a while back Rochester was practically abandoned when it came to supernaturals, so the Execution Underground never bothered to set up a division here. When the monsters learned that no hunters were in the area, they flocked here like the bloodthirsty cattle they are. Needless to say, now the place is overrun with them and the Rochester division has barely scraped the surface. Basically, if it’s supernatural and predatory toward humans chances are we have it in spades.
Which leads me to another point about this city: if you’re not a hunter, stay the fuck inside after dark—unless you really want to be the next person lying cold and dead in a back alley. It’d make my life a hell of a lot easier if you just stayed inside. Got it? I live for my job and believe me I thoroughly enjoy hunting down werewolf pieces of shit, but this city doesn’t need to see any more deaths lately. We’ve got some major sickos around here. The current one at the top of my list right now, being a nasty sexual sadist who loves to prey upon young girls. Ladies, go meet a guy at church or wherever the hell decent human beings hang out, because if a guy at a bar offers to buy you a drink, chances are he could be a bloodthirsty killer.
Regardless of your gender, if you do decide to be a dipshit and go out after dark though, there are a few places you should absolutely not frequent. The first on the list are two night clubs: K9s and Club Fantasy. In case you’re not smart enough to catch on from the name alone, let me spell it out for you: K9s is a werewolf owned bar. It’s also where all the shapeshifters, both werewolf and non-werewolf, love to hang out. So unless you enjoy being roughed up by a pack of unruly, drunken wolves, I’d suggest you stay the hell away. Same goes for Club Fantasy, which is anything but fantasy fun. It’s a vampire bar, and since we’ve had a little problem lately with vamps infected with some virus that turns them into flesh-eating zombie vamps, I strongly suggest you avoid it at all costs.
Secondly, avoid the old asylum and any other reportedly haunted places around town, which there are quite a few. If you’re a teenager who’s looking to scare the living shit out of your girlfriend in hopes of being a hero and maybe getting laid, think again. Unless you want a poltergeist riding your ass, take her to a scary movie instead—preferably before sundown.
And last, but certainly not least dangerous, is Manhattan Square Park. This may seem like a perfectly family friendly place during the daytime, but believe me when I say that other than random back alleys, my fellow hunters and I find more bodies here than we care to count. Don’t add yourself to our ever-growing numbers.
So yeah…that’s pretty much the gist of it. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
