She’s more gunpowder than girl—and the fate of the desert lies in her hands.

Mortals rule the desert nation of Miraji, but mystical beasts still roam the wild and barren wastes, and rumor has it that somewhere, djinni still practice their magic. But there’s nothing mystical or magical about Dustwalk, the dead-end town that Amani can’t wait to escape from.

Destined to wind up “wed or dead,” Amani’s counting on her sharpshooting skills to get her out of Dustwalk. When she meets Jin, a mysterious and devastatingly handsome foreigner, in a shooting contest, she figures he’s the perfect escape route. But in all her years spent dreaming of leaving home, she never imagined she’d gallop away on a mythical horse, fleeing the murderous Sultan’s army, with a fugitive who’s wanted for treason. And she’d never have predicted she’d fall in love with him…or that he’d help her unlock the powerful truth of who she really is.

Quick & Dirty: Unforgettable action packed story that I would recommend to everyone! This is now one of my most anticipated releases of 2016!

Opening Sentence: They said only the folks who belonged in Deadshot after dark were the ones who were up to no good

The Review:

Dustwalk is a tiny town in the middle of the desert. People from Dustwalk tend to grow up there and never leave, but Amani Al’Hiza doesn’t plan to follow in the footsteps of all her fellow townspeople. Ever since she was a young girl she has dreamed of getting out and traveling to Izman, the capital of Mirajin. Her parents died a year ago and she is running out of time if she wants to leave. So she enters a sharpshooting contest and it changes her life forever.

Instead of slipping out unnoticed in the night like she planned, she ends up running for her life with a very handsome foreigner named Jin. While trying to escape from the ever persistent Sultan’s army, the two companions travel though the desert and end up in a place Amani never imagined she would ever find herself.

All Amani wanted was to escape her dead end life but she never expected she would find a cause worth fighting for or a boy that she would fall in love with. But the most unexpected thing she discovers is who she truly is!

Amani is the perfect heroine in this fantastic story! She has an awesome spunky personality and I adored all her witty comebacks. She is smart, resourceful, strong, and a spectacular sharp shooter. Escaping to Izman has been her main goal for as long as she can remember, but she doesn’t let her goal deter her from doing the right thing. She is faced with many challenges and she could have picked the easy route that would have allowed her to achieve her goal much faster, but instead she always tries to do what she feels is right. This made me respect her, which helped me to develop a strong connection with her. Like all great characters, she is flawed but she is constantly trying to do better. She grows so much throughout the story and I loved everything about her! I can’t wait to continue her story in book two!

Jin is one of those boys you can’t help but fall head over heels in love with. He is extremely charming, brave, loyal, and kind. He has a mischievous personality and he always seems to find himself in some kind of trouble. I totally got butterflies and was all giddy whenever he would give Amani one of his signature grins! His relationship with Amani was complicated, sexy, sweet, and just perfect!

Rebel of the Sands is an action packed adventure that you do not want to miss. From the first line, I was captivated and I enjoyed the entire journey. I actually tried to pace myself so I wouldn’t fly through this too fast so I could savor it more and it was so worth it. I freaking loved everything about this story! The romance was filled with tension, secrets, and it was epic! The plot was very intriguing and had just the perfect amount of mystery and suspense! But my favorite part was the setting! It is basically a western set in a high fantasy world, which I think is genius! Hamilton’s writing is gorgeous and she really knows how to weave a captivating story! If you can’t tell, I loved this story and it has now become one of my most anticipated releases of 2016! I am stoked it is a series and can’t wait for book 2! If you are a western fan or if you like fantasy this is a must read!!!

Notable Scene:

Jin hooked one arm around my shoulder, leaning on me. “I knew I liked you, Bandit.”

And then came that grin. I might have trader eyes, but Jin had the sort of smiled that would turn over whole empires to the enemy. That made me feel like suddenly I understood him exactly even though I knew nothing about him. The kind that made me feel like if I was on the right side of it, we could do anything together. I had the next six weeks to find out if that was true.
