I believe the “group of sexy warrior brothers” thing has been overdone in supernatural and paranormal stories.

Super sexy vampires and the “chosen one” trope are both way overdone in supernatural stories. But that doesn’t stop me from reading them. ;)

I guess I agree with the “sexy warrior groups” and for certain “the chosen one” ideas, but I have been seeing a load of angels and am getting the impression that they are catching the pack of overdones, but I read them all anyway!
    Thanks for hosting.

I believe vampires and werewolves are too commercialized and over-done now. That doesn’t always stop me from reading about them, but most of the time I don’t like those stories. I think the Hades-Persephone story is a little over-done, but I love hearing about the different takes on that story, it’s one of my favorites of Greek mythology :D
    Thanks!!!

The “vampires are hott” idea is blown way out of proportion. The freakish qualities of the Twilight vampires have idealized vampires into wimpy, sparkly beings to be valued for their ‘hottness.’ The whole vampire genre is a tragedy of YA fiction.

There is a ridiculous abundance of vampire/werewolf lit…some of it not even worth looking at, but many are really interesting twists and then there are the reprints of 20-yr or series like the Night World (LOVE it); so there’s something for everyone to get interested in:) Not to mention, I love anything supernatural anyway so this is an amazing time for me to be a reader^_^

Paranormal creatures like werewolves and vamps are overdone, but I’d love to see something truly new and unique for them. Greek mythology is also very overdone. Same with angels and demons. But, again, I would read it if it was truly fresh.

Overdone Supernatural Elements… I think that when a love interest shows up from the past (and I mean like centuries ago) is overdone a bit, especially when they really is not character development that has to do with their ‘love’

I can’t think of any supernatural elements or mythologies that I believe are over done, I like them all. The only theme that I think seems to be popular right now that I don’t get into too much is angels. And if it’s done right, it’s all good.

I think it’s sort of obvious that vampires & werewolves are becoming trite because of how overdone they are. As far as mythologies go, I’d say that the more mainstream Greek & Irish myths are becoming too over-used. Everyone & their dog knows about Persephone & Hades – why not write about Orpheus & Eurydice instead? Or heck – Icarus!

I’d like to see more people try modernize tribal mythologies, ex: Maori mythology. But I’ll take the few Hawaiian myth recreations that I’ve found & be fine with them … for now.

Many of the supernatural things and mythological things are overdone, like vampires, werewolves, ghosts, greek mythology roman mythology etc. But it all depends on the authors. I will read something if it is different from the norm. There are many authors who step out of what is known and make it completely new and fresh, with a new take on it that is great to read.

Almost everything supernatural has been overdone to an extent, but I still love them. Vampires, werewolves, groups of “brothers” (ala Black Dagger Brotherhood, Lords of the Underworld, etc) are very common, but it’s the author that either makes them awesome or makes them tired. I will try it all even if I’m personally tired of vampires (or whatever it is) because you never know when something magical will happen.

There may be supernatural elements that are over done but I haven’t gotten to the point where it bothers me. As long as the story is interesting I don’t really care which type of supernatural creatures the book is about. Same goes with mythology, as long as it is an intense exciting read I in.

I think I’m starting to get a little bit tired of the whole “find your one and only mate thing” in shifter/werewolf stories. I think what bothers me the most is the whole “love at first sight” those kind of stories have. The shifter sees someone and right away they know that that person is their mate. It just feels too contrived.
