Giveaway: Bloodlines by Richelle Mead

Are you dying to read Bloodlines?  In celebration of the upcoming release of BLOODLINES, I’m offering a giveaway of the book.

About the Series:

Rose’s story might have wrapped up in the Vampire Academy series, but there’s still lots more to tell about the other characters from that world. This spin-off series centers around Sydney the Alchemist, a human teen who’s part of a group to keep the existence of vampires secret from the world. Sydney’s spent her entire life being taught that vampires and dhampirs are evil and unnatural, but all that’s about to change when she’s forced into hiding with Jill, Adrian, and Eddie…

Leave a comment on this post telling us some of your favorite Vampire Academy moments or why you love Richelle’s books for a chance to win a copy of the book!  As always, see details below.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

About Richelle:

Scorpio Richelle Mead is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of urban fantasy books for both adults and teens.  Originally from Michigan, Richelle now lives in Seattle, Washington where she works on her three series full-time. Before becoming a writer, she considered a few different career paths. She received a liberal arts degree from the University of Michigan, an MA in Comparative Religion from Western Michigan University, and a Master in Teaching (Middle & High School English) degree from the University of Washington. In the end, she decided writing was the way for her but believes all of her education prepared her for it.

A life-long reader, Richelle has always had a particular fascination with mythology and folklore. When not writing,, she enjoys bad reality TV, traveling, trying interesting cocktails, and shopping for dresses. Lots of dresses. She is a self-professed coffee addict, fights a constant (and losing) battle with procrastination, and has a passion for all things wacky and humorous.

Her adult series are published by Kensington Books.  The Georgina Kincaid Series (Succubus Blues, Succubus on Top, Succubus Dreams, and Succubus Heat) tell the humorous and heart-breaking story of a reluctant succubus who can’t touch the man she loves without dire side effects. On top of that, she must deal with Hell’s middle management team and the many supernatural threats that come her way.  Richelle’s Dark Swan Series (Storm Born and Thorn Queen) follows Eugenie Markham, a free-lance shaman who battles ghosts and fey that sneak into our world from the Otherworld. When an alarming prophecy suddenly makes her every Otherworldly creature’s object of desire, Eugenie must dodge their advances while also fighting a dark power rising within her.

Richelle’s YA series, Vampire Academy, is published by Razorbill Books (Penguin) and thus far contains Vampire Academy, Frostbite, Shadow Kiss, Blood Promise, and Spirit Bound.  This New York Times and USA Todaybestselling series has won honors from the American Library Association and been translated into 30 languages.  It follows the war between two races of vampires, living and undead. Rose Hathaway, a 17-year old half-vampire, is training to be a bodyguard for the living vampires and finds her life complicated by the dangers that involves, as well as an illicit romance with one of her teachers.

About the Book:

Blood doesn’t lie…

Sydney is an alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of human and vampires. They protect vampire secrets – and human lives. When Sydney is torn from her bed in the middle of the night, at first she thinks she’s still being punished for her complicated alliance with dhampir Rose Hathaway. But what unfolds is far worse. Jill Dragomir – the sister of Moroi Queen Lissa Dragomir – is in mortal danger, and the Moroi must send her into hiding. To avoid a civil war, Sydney is called upon to act as Jill’s guardian and protector, posing as her roommate in the last place anyone would think to look for vampire royalty – a human boarding school in Palm Springs, California. But instead of finding safety at Amberwood Prep, Sydney discovers the drama is only just beginning…

All the Christian parts were my favorites! I thought Christian was so funny and awesome and loved how sweet he was to Lissa (when they weren’t fighting, of course hehe). He was my favorite character in the book. I also loved the scenes with Abe because he was pretty badass and hilarious too. :)

    Great contest! Thanks!
I got hooked on Richelle’s books about two and a half years ago. My friend let me borrow her audio of “Vampire Academy” for my long road trip home for Christmas. I was instantly hooked and grabbed all the other novels (despite hating the covers) at the store. It was agony waiting for the last edition – agony. But to whittle away the time I played over my favourite Dmirti moments – like when he and Rose first meet and he is still the mysterious but sexy jerk who caught her. And when he trains her while reading his cowboy books and leaning against walls all sexy, and when he fights alongside her, knowing she can take care of herself – and yes, even when he was evil Vampire Dmitri – I can’t help that one, he is just that irresistible. …
    Anyways …

I am a follower on GFC and FB – +3

    Thanks so much! :D

I think that in creating Rose, Richelle Mead created one of the best kick-butt girl heroines in YA fiction. I think she is strong, interesting, loyal, and well worth reading dozens of stories about! I love the action, danger, romance, and emotional depth of the VAMPIRE ACADEMY series. Kudos to Richelle Mead.

I couldn’t resist. I never did manage to get this book and it made me cry. LOL My fave scenes in VA include Rose’s firt hook-up with Dmitri – and the bridge scene. Kinda of two polar opposites but they were epic.

My favourite VA moment… honestly it’s hard to choose one single moment cause there were sooo many. Actually each and every page of all the 6 parts were amazing and a great moment in itself. I can never pin point down to one single moment so sorry!! But yeah I can revisit some of them for sure :)
    1)
Lissa and I had been best friends ever since kindergarten, when our teacher had paired us together for writing lessons. Forcing five-year-olds to spell Vasilisa Dragomir and Rosemarie Hathaway was
beyond cruel, and we’d—or rather, I’d —responded appropriately. I’d chucked my book at our teacher and called her a fascist bastard. I hadn’t known what those words meant, but I’d known how to hit a moving target.

    2)
He shrugged. “She might be wild and disrespectful, but if she has potential—”
“Wild and disrespectful?”I interrupted. “Who the hell are you anyway? Outsourced help?”
“Guardian Belikov is the princess’s guardian now,” said Kirova.”Her sanctioned guardian.”
“You got cheap foreign labor to protect Lissa?”

    3)
They were in the middle of setting up when we entered the gym, and just like in the commons, all eyes fell on me. I couldn’t decide if I felt like a rockstar or a circus freak.

    4)
Scanning the staring, openmouthed novices, I looked for a familiar face. Most of them were guys. One
caught my eye, and I could barely hold back my grin.
“Hey Mason, wipe the drool off your face. If you’re going to think about me naked, do it on your own
    time.”
A few snorts and snickers broke the awed silence, and Mason Ashford snapped out of his haze, giving
me a lopsided smile. With red hair that stuck up everywhere and a smattering of freckles, he was
nice-looking, though not exactly hot. He was also one of the funniest guys I knew. We’d been good
    friends back in the day.
“Thisis my time, Hathaway. I’m leading today’s session.”
“Oh yeah?”I retorted. “Huh. Well, I guess this is a good time to think about me naked, then.”
“It’s always a good a time to think about you naked,” added someone nearby, breaking the tension
further. Eddie Castile. Another friend of mine.
Dimitri shook his head and walked off, muttering something in Russian that didn’t sound complimentary.

    5)
“No, I’m serious. I mean, he’s all quiet and antisocial usually, but when he fights…wow. If you think you’re hurting now, you’re going to be dead when he’s done with you.”
Great. Something else to improve my day.

    6)
I swallowed back more swear words. “I watched the area whenever we went out,” I said, needing to
    defend myself.
“Oh? Well that’s something. Did you use Carnegie’s Quadrant Surveillance Method or the Rotational
    Survey?”
    I didn’t say anything.
“Ah. I’m guessing you used the Hathaway Glance-Around-When-You-Remember-To Method.”

    7)
“Oh. So that’s why you’re up here. For a pity party.”
“This isn’t a joke. I’m serious.” I could tell Lissa was getting angry. It was trumping her earlier distress.
He shrugged and leaned casually against the sloping wall. “So am I. I love pity parties. I wish I’d brought the hats. What do you want to mope about first? How it’s going to take you a whole day to be popular and loved again? How you’ll have to wait a couple weeks before Hollister can ship out some new clothes? If you spring for rush shipping, it might not be so long.”

    8)
Someone had brought in a portable CD player, and while that cheered me up at first, the song coming from it did not: “When Doves Cry” by Prince. It was embarrassing to know the title, but one of our former housemates had been obsessed with the ’80s.
“Whoa, Dimitri,” I said, tossing my bag on the floor. “I realize this is actually a current hit in Eastern
Europe right now, but do you think we could maybe listen to something that wasn’t recorded before I was born?”

    9)
The only thing better than imagining Dimitri carrying me in his arms was imagining him shirtless while carrying me in his arms.

    10)
“I’m glad you’re better,” he said. His mouth sounded like it was almost in my hair, just above my ear.
    “When I saw you fall…”
“You thought, ‘Wow, she’s a loser.’“
    “That’s not what I thought.”

Imagine I am just quoting from the first part and yet the 10 quotes haven’t covered all the great moments that are there in it..!! I guess you can understand my dilemma by now! :)

What do I love about these books? So much. An engaging story that feels real, despite the subject matter. A kickass female MC who is smart and doesn’t let people walk all over her. Dimtri. When I started the VA series I actually had to go out and buy all of the books that I didn’t have because I wanted to read them all in one go.

    Some of my favorite quotes:
    Dimitri.

I hadn’t known he was here. His eyes were on me too, dark and endless. Only I couldn’t read what he was feeling. His face betrayed nothing, but there was something in his eyes…something intense and intimidating. The image of him ready to take down that group of guardians flashed through my mind, and something told me that if I asked, he would fight his way to me through this courtroom and do everything in his power to rescue me from it.

“You, know I’m the Queen’s favorite great nephew, Well, yeah I’m her only great nephew, but that’s not important, I’d still be her favorite…” – Adrian, Shadow Kiss

    I could go on. It’s bad. :)

I loved the Vampire Academy Series. I got started reading them late in the game, so I got the first four all at the same time and read them all in 3 days. I love Rose, she is a a strong female lead who can kick some butt when needed. I loved Adrian and hope that he will get a happy ending in this new spin-off series. I can’t wait for Bloodlines to come out so that I can add it to my collection. Thanks for the giveaway.

I’m still new to VA, I’ve only read the first two. But so far, my favorite scene is the very end of Frostbite. There is a moment between Dimitri and Rose that is anything but frosty.

Vampire Academy is my favorite YA series – I have so many favorite moments! Dimitri is on my “book boyfriend” list. I love the opening scene in Vampire Academy – it’s a great start to a great series. I also love when she goes to visit his family in Russia without him.

Okay, so first there’s the snark. Lots and lots of funny, sassy moments. Also, there’s action and vampires that don’t sparkle. ‘Nuff said.

One of my favorite scenes is when Dimitri is with Rose and he’s holding the ‘blessed silver’ ring. He seems so lost in the memory of his family and you can tell that he cares deeply for them. That moment was sad but so full of emotion.

I love all of Richelle Mead’s books. Each of her series brings something fresh to the table. I’m so excited to see more Adrian.

Thanks so much for the giveaway! I absolutely love the VA series, and my favorite part (although I have many) would have to be when Dimitri was un-Strigoied. I just loved him so much, and I was really happy he didn’t have to stay Strigoi. I also love the end of Last Sacrifice, happy endings are awesome :) And all the funny remarks and jokes are really cool too!
