Guest Post & Giveaway: Eternity’s Mark by Maeve Greyson

Please join me in welcoming author Maeve Greyson here today to Dark Faerie Tales.  Maeve is here to talk about Eternity’s Mark, which was just released yesterday. You can read an excerpt from the book here. We are also featuring this title in our UF/PNR Reading Challenge 2012. Thanks to Maeve, you also have a chance to win a copy of the book.  As always, details are listed at the end of the post.  Make sure you follow the rules to be entered into the contest!

Author Bio:

Maeve Greyson writes paranormal romances with a Celtic twist from her cozy home not too far from Kentucky Lake. Her writing partner, Jasper the dog and her husband of over thirty years takes care of all those annoying real life issues like laundry, cooking and cleaning so Maeve can concentrate on pouring her dreams into the keyboard when she gets home from the steel mill job each day. Tucked away in the middle of a five acre wood, Maeve listens to the wind whispering through the trees and hears characters demanding to be acknowledged.

Her debut novel, BEYOND A HIGHLAND WHISPER is available now from The Wild Rose Press and other online retailers. March 2012 brings two new paranormal romances from Maeve. THE HIGHLANDER’S FURY from The Wild Rose Press on March 2nd and ETERNITY’S MARK from Kensington’s Brava line on March 27th. ETERNITY’S MARK won Kensington Brava and RT Book Reviews 2011 Writing with the Stars Contest.

Welcome Maeve!

Would you want to live forever?

“By the power of blaze,

By the power of flame,

Death shall no longer have any claim.”

                                                                        ~Draecna Esme from Eternity’s Mark

This is the spell uttered by a young female Draecna granting Hannah an extended life matching Taggert’s years. Even though Taggart is a hybrid –half Erastaedian sorcerer and half Draecna – the powerful DNA of the mystical dragons grants Taggart a life so long that some would consider him immortal. Female Draecna are born with the Fire of Immortality, the magical ability to add an almost endless number of years to the short lives of mere mortals. This precious gift is bestowed only on a select few, those proving without a doubt they deserve such an opportunity.

Taggart couldn’t bear the thought of losing Hannah after a mortal’s short lifespan together. So he asked her if she wanted to live forever. You see, there’s a catch to the Draecna Fire of Immortality. If the recipient doesn’t desire the extended gift –the flames dissipate into powerless curls of smoke. So, Taggart needed Hannah to yearn for an endless life…and at first, she wasn’t too sure. Because such a great gift also means great sacrifice: watching loved ones grow old and die.

How about you? Would you want to live forever? Would you accept the gift of immortality?

Leave a comment with your answer. I’d love to hear your thoughts. And by leaving a comment, you’ll be entered to win a copy of Eternity’s Mark.

One winner will receive a copy of Eternity’s Mark by Maeve Greyson

Available on March 27, 2012 from Kensington/Brava

About the Book:

Sacred blood flows in Hannah MacPherson’s veins; she’s just too hardheaded to realize it. After losing a husband to the Iraq war, she’s squirreled herself away in a tiny town where she snarls at any man who gives her a second glance. But Taggart de Gaelson knows more about Hannah than she could ever fathom. As her assigned protector, Taggart’s grown tired of Hannah ignoring his messages from Scotland—and now he’s come to retrieve her.

The balance of the Continuum depends on a race of sacred creatures who maintain the strength of the portals. Only Hannah’s touch can release the hatchlings from their eggs. Sworn to protect Hannah from others who lust for control of the beasts, Taggart must win her trust. But as he battles at her side, can he protect his heart?

I would not want to live forever because I don’t want to see all the people I love die.

I don’t think I’d want to live forever. It would become rather run of the mill after a while and I’d really miss my loved ones.

I wouldn’t want to live forever because I think it’s hard enough watching the places and things you have known change or disappear as they tend to do over the course of time. And it would be extremely hard to outlive all your friends and family. No, I don’t think that would be a good idea at all. I’d like a few more years to get my books written, but beyond that I’ll take whatever fate has in store for me.

Hi Maeve! Good question with no easy answer. I don’t think I would want to live forever. My goal is to live this life to its fullest and have no regrets. Even if my love was by my side, I wouldn’t want to watch my family and friends die. Fate is fate.

I really had to think about this, but I don’t think that I would really want to live forever. It would be just too hard to watch all the people that I care about die. Thanks for the awesome giveaway.

I see by the many thoughtful comments that we’re all pretty much in agreement. I don’t think living forever would be such a great thing either –especially if my loved ones weren’t included. ;-)

When I was a teenager I wanted to live forever, to see, how our planet Earth will develop. But now, I don’t want to see my beloved people die one after one, old and weak while I will be still young.

That’s a tough one. I wouldn’t want to see the people I love die. But I am extremely curious and I would love to see all of the new things that will be invented and the changes that occur over the centuries to come. So, if I could arrange for my family to become immortal with me, I would say yes. :)
