Hello Everyone! We’d like to welcome Claire and Will to today’s edition of “The Dating Game,” Young Adult Edition. (This is actually like The Newlywed Game more so than the actual “Dating Game”). We are taking current and potential couples and seeing how well they know each other. Claire and Will are no strangers to reality TV—they’re in the midst of competing on Around the World, a race-around-the-globe show with a love-themed twist. They’re in Greece right now, but their producers have graciously given them a little time off from the race to Skype in and talk to us.
Before today’s show we asked Will five questions about how well he knows Claire to determine if this couple knows enough about each other to become a real-life couple after Around the World is over or if they should take their chances elsewhere!
Dark Faerie Tales: What is Claire’s favorite color?
Will’s Answer: Red.
Will: Man, I’m sorry. I had no idea on this one. I just guessed that ’cause you’re wearing a red shirt right now. It looks really good on you, though.
Claire: **blushes as red as her shirt** Thanks.
DFT: What was Claire’s favorite place to visit while on Around the World?
Will’s Answer: Greece.
Claire: Good job!
Will: That was an easy one. After our little… excursion this morning, how could you possibly say anything else?
Claire: Shh, the producers aren’t supposed to know about that!
Will: Whatever, it was worth it.
Claire: It totally was.
DFT: What one word do you think came to Claire’s mind when she first laid eyes on you?
Will’s Answer: Hot.
Will: I knew it! You tried to play it cool, but I could tell you thought I was sexy by the way you—
Claire: Sexy? I didn’t say sexy.
Will: You said hot! That’s the same thing!
Claire: Oh, wow. Ha. I actually meant you literally looked too warm. It was like 95 degrees, and you were wearing a wool hat.
Will: … Oh.
Claire: But I do, um. Think you’re. Um. Yeah.
Will: I knew it.
DFT: What is Claire’s favorite book?
Will’s Answer: Oh god, I have no idea. We’ve never talked about it. Um… The Catcher in the Rye?
Claire: Fangirl, by Rainbow Rowell
Claire: Really? The Catcher in the Rye??
Will: I don’t know!
Claire: **sigh** Boys.
DFT: What one word do you think Claire used to describe your first kiss?
Will’s Answer: Surprising.
Will: Yup. I think we can agree on that one.
Now the tables are turned, Claire you were asked some questions about Will before the game. Will, let’s find out what Claire really thinks about you.
DFT: Claire, what is Will’s favorite color?
Claire’s Answer: Green
Will: How did you know that? We’ve never talked about that.
Claire: I don’t know, you wear a lot of green. Not that I pay a huge amount of attention to what you wear. Um.
DFT: What was Will’s favorite place to visit while on Around the World?
Claire’s Answer: Greece.
Claire: Really? I thought after what happened this morning…
Will: Well, obviously I liked that. But Java was the very beginning. I always love the starts of things. Plus, I was just so happy that ridiculously long plane ride was over.
Claire: He’s afraid to fly.
Will: But having her next to me helps.
DFT: What one word do you think came to Will’s mind when he first laid eyes on you?
Claire’s Answer: Smart.
Claire: He was playing this trivia game on his phone. He didn’t notice me at all until I gave him one of the answers he needed.
Will: And then we played together and she kicked my ass five times in a row.
Claire: What can I say. You kind of suck at trivia.
Will: You’re lucky I have a thing for smart girls.
DFT: What is Will’s favorite food?
Claire’s Answer: Cheese.
Claire: I still think that sort of counts. Pizza is mostly made of cheese. Will told me once that if he could pick any superpower, it would be the ability to turn anything he wanted into cheese.
Will: Best superpower ever.
DFT: What one word do you think Will used to describe your first kiss?
Claire’s Answer: Impulsive.
Claire: You’re right, it was pretty clever. We were in a super sticky situation, and he—
Will: Shhh, I thought you didn’t want the producers to know where we were this morning.
Claire: Oh, right. Well, anyway, it was fun. And I, um, I wouldn’t mind doing it again sometime in a less sticky situation.
Will: I bet that can be arranged.
Thank you, Claire and Will for joining us today!

About this Book:
No parents. No limits. No clue what they’re in for.
Shy, cautious Claire has always been in her confident older sister’s shadow. While Miranda’s life is jam-packed with exciting people and whirlwind adventures, Claire gets her thrills vicariously by watching people live large on reality TV.
When Miranda discovers her boyfriend, Samir, cheating on her just before her college graduation, it’s Claire who comes up with the perfect plan. They’ll outshine Miranda’s fame-obsessed ex while having an amazing summer by competing on Around the World, a race around the globe for a million bucks. Revenge + sisterly bonding = awesome.
But the show has a twist, and Claire is stunned to find herself in the middle of a reality-show romance that may or may not be just for the cameras. This summer could end up being the highlight of her life… or an epic fail forever captured on film. In a world where drama is currency and manipulation is standard, how can you tell what’s for real?
