Sure! I’m an urban fantasy author with Harper Voyager. I would say that my work combines elements of fantasy, science fiction, mystery and romance. My first novel, Afterlife: The Resurrection Chronicles, came out in September, 2010, and my next novel (a stand-alone) titled, Feast: Harvest of Dreams, comes out in June, 2011. I worked in publishing for about 20 years before my first novel released, most recently as the editor of Victorian Homes magazine, contributing editor of Romantic Homes magazine and founding editor of Cottages & Bungalows magazine.
Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
Well, I’m right on the cusp of having my next book released—Feast comes out in June. So, I feel like I’ve created two worlds. My first novel, Afterlife, takes place in a gritty, near-future New Orleans, where people now have the technology that enables them to live multiple lives. They can resurrect instead die and the setting is rather dark. My second novel, Feast, takes place in a small mountain village during Halloween. A host of dangerous creatures are preparing for a hunt at the same time as the people in the town are getting ready for Halloween. The tone in this book is a bit gothic and, while scary at times, there are strong fantasy and romantic elements as well.
Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
This is my first time at RT, so I’d love to hear advice from anyone who’s already been there! I’ll be reading this blog regularly to learn tips from others who have attended before.
Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to? What panels are you planning on attending?
While I won’t be speaking on any panels, I’m really excited to be attending and can’t wait to see as many panels as possible. Right now I’m signed up to attend the following: Young Adult: The Never-Ending Story; Meet The Editors; How To Make a Living Writing Novels; Critique Partners; Conversation with Dean Koontz; and YA goes Hollywood. I’m also going to attend Avon’s Dusk To Dark mixer on Friday evening.
If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
A short brunette who will be taking copious notes during panels, laughing at every joke, and continually asking complete strangers for directions to the next event.
