When I put out a call for help out a few months ago, I was really worried about the type of response that I would get. I really thought that I wouldn’t be able to find any help at all. I’m very pleased to say that I had a fantastic response to my application. So many enthusiastic and talented applicants made the decision really hard for me. I’ve decided to bring on a few team members and I hope that you enjoy their insights and personalities as much as I do.
We have been spending some time getting things setup for the new site launch design, as well as getting everyone trained in the different facets of blogging on the WordPress interface. Our introduction comes today from Rachael. In addition to doing reviews for us, Rachael is going to help plan the Fantastic Fables event this August, maintain the New Releases page and Facebook Cover Art Albums, as well as help revamp the ARC Tour Program. So we have a lot of changes coming up. Please welcome Rachael to the team.
I am extremely happy about joining Angela and her blog, Dark Faerie Tales. I have an extreme passion for reading and look forward to reviewing and discussing books with other book lovers. I was thrilled when Angela contacted me after I completed her application. I honestly didn’t think I would stand a chance, as I am sure she had many interested book lovers who would love to join her team. I was chosen and I cannot express the gratitude I feel to be able to do what I love to do and be able to connect with other people who share my passion.
Now for some personal information, my name is Rachael and I live in Alabama, near the Gulf Coast. I am 29 years old. I have been married for ten years and have a seven-year-old son. I have worked in the Human Resources field for 8 years until I was recently laid off and now I am enjoying being a stay at home mom.
I have always loved to read, although life got in the way for a while and I forgot how much I enjoyed losing myself in a book. In middle school and high school I read so much that my mother used to threaten taking my books away as punishment. I loved horror. That love comes from my mother, I can remember watching horror movies with her as young as six and I still enjoy watching horror movies but my major passion is reading. My favorite authors back then were R.L. Stine and Christopher Pike although S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders (which is not horror I know) was my all time favorite. I loved going to the library and bookstore and my book hoarding tendencies started then.
I rediscovered my love for reading about four years ago while I was going back to school to finish my Bachelor’s Degree, like I seriously needed more reading, right. I started with Paranormal YA and moved on to Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy. I have an extensive collection and I have to keep adding bookshelves as my hoard grows. Some of my favorite authors are J.R. Ward, Gena Showalter, Lara Adrian, Kelley Armstrong, Patricia Briggs, Kresley Cole, Alyssa Day, Larissa Ione, and Thea Harrison. I could keep going but I think everyone gets the picture.
I love reading blogs and learning about new authors and books to add to my wish list, so I am happy to become a part of Dark Faerie Tales and I hope to provide followers with honest reviews to help them make book selections that they will enjoy.
