Synopsis:

A Connection Series Novella featuring Aerie Daniels and Jagger Kennedy (River Wilde’s cousin)

Jagger Kennedy never went looking for fame, he just fell into it. After scoring a major modeling contract, his clean-cut good looks and charm catapulted his career. But when his actress girlfriend breaks his heart, he moves to L.A. to try his hand at acting. He needs to make a change, and the last thing he’s looking for is love…

Aerie Daniels is a woman in control … until she meets Jagger. Her surprising connection with him leaves her stunned, and it’s unlike anything she’s ever felt. But just when she lets her walls fall, she makes a startling discovery about him that breaks her fragile heart into a million pieces.

To keep from losing the one woman he can’t bear to be without, Jagger is willing to give up anything—including his career. But even that might not be enough to regain Aerie’s shattered trust…

Quick & Dirty: Quick read full of tender moments and second chances. This is by far my favorite book in this series so far.

Opening Sentence: All of my senses engage as I wait in line and stare through the clear glass—the fragrance in the air from the foil wrapped treats wafts under my nose, the beauty of the lines of shelves decorated with tiny dots and colored sprinkles mesmerizes me, and the anticipation of the taste makes my mouth water

The Review:

Jagger Kennedy has just recently moved to L.A. to get away from his life in New York. He was a model in New York but has always dreamed of working with movies. So after a bad breakup he decided to give up his modeling career and try his hand at acting. He’s not looking to start a relationship but once he meets the gorgeous Aerie Daniels his plans change.

Aerie has a plan for her life and it doesn’t include falling in love. After getting her heart broke at a young age she has never really let anyone else into her heart. She pours all her passion into her job and that hasn’t leave her much time to date, which was exactly what she wanted. But when Jagger walks into her life and shatters all of her self control she doesn’t know what to do. For the first time in her life she actually wants to be close to someone and that scares her. Her life is all about control and order, not passion and adventure, which is exactly what Jagger makes her feel.

I really like Aerie, she was an interesting character. She has an obsessive compulsive personality and always feels the need to be in control of her life. I really enjoyed this aspect of her because it made her unique and different from your average female protagonist. She was also extremely set in her ways that any change in her routine felt like a threat to her sanity. This has caused her to have a very lonely and hollow life. After the last boy broke her heart she has sworn off relationships in general until she meets Jagger. Letting someone in and really putting herself out there for the first time in forever is really scary for Aerie. But because you experience this with her it made it really easy to build a lasting connection with her. I really loved reading her story and thought that she was a great character.

Jagger looks like your average gorgeous guy that seems to have everything handed to him on a silver platter, but the more you get to know him the more you see that his life hasn’t been as easy as it looks. He moved to L.A. to get a fresh start because his life in New York wasn’t really what he wanted. He is very charming and easy going so in a lot of ways he and Aerie are polar opposites, but they are also perfect for each other. Their relationship is so sweet and honest, which made it so much more believable. I thought that he was a great love interest and I totally swooned over him.

Dazed is a sexy read that I really enjoyed. I’m not going to lie, I have had really mixed feelings about the two previous books in this series, but luckily this one was much better for me. I think the main thing was that I really liked the characters. They were unique and interesting, which made them stand out and much more memorable. I will admit that Karr really knows how to write sexy books with lots of drama but there’s not really much beyond the romance in her stories. But I thought that Jagger and Aerie’s love story was really sweet and timid, which was really cute and refreshing. You can totally read this as a standalone if you would like and honestly since I wasn’t a huge fan of the first two books, I don’t think it would be a bad way to start the series. I am hopeful that I will like the future books more, so I will be reading more from Karr. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a short sexy read.

Notable Scene:

“Here, put these on the plate. You should always keep cakes in the refrigerator. It keeps the icing set and  makes the cake’s flavor come alive.”

I look at him skeptically.

“It does,” he says. “I promise.”

“Sounds plausible,” I answer.

He chuckles at me. “You’re so serious.”

I shrug with a small, self-conscious laugh but agree. “Yes, I am.” I set the box down on the table.

He puts his hand over mine and again I shiver. “Hey, I didn’t know when I bought those that you were upset, but I know now. So, Alice, please forgive me for stealing your cupcakes.”

Oh my God. The things his touch does to me. I don’t know if I should melt away out of embarrassment or jump for joy out of elation.
