Synopsis:

I’ve battled the Reapers of Chaos before–and survived. But this time I have a Bad, Bad Feeling it’s going to be a fight to the death. . .most likely mine.

Yeah, I’ve got my psychometry magic, my talking sword, Vic, and even the most dangerous Spartan on campus at my side in Logan freaking Quinn, but I’m no match for Loki, the evil Norse god of chaos. I may be Nike’s Champion, but at heart, I’m still just Gwen Frost, that weird Gypsy girl everyone at school loves to gossip about.

Then someone I love is put in more danger than ever before, and something inside me snaps. This time, Loki and his Reapers are going down for good . . . or I am.

Quick & Dirty: The final battle between good and evil.

Opening Sentence: “This is pointless.”

Excerpt: Yes

The Review:

Gwen and her friends are back in the last book of the Mythos Academy series. They have lost some and won some, but they still have to figure out what the next artifact that Loki wants and why. The Protectorate brings the rest of the artifacts to Gwen so that she can use her touch magic on them and figure out which one he wants. After touching several, she still can’t figure it out and then decide to go back to the school, but during the drive back they are ambushed and Gwen’s grandmother is taken.

Once back at the school Gwen quickly figures out they are after the candle and why. It is an artifact of Sol and has tremendous healing power. Gwen soon realizes they want to trade the candle for her grandmother, but Linus refuses to budge. So Gwen figures out how to steal the candle, and comes up with a plan that will turn its power against Loki. Soon she realizes she hasn’t fooled all of her friends and they set out to avoid the trap and save her grandmother.

Will Gwen be able to defeat Loki and save the world, or will he defeat them all?

Wow, what a ride this last book was. I went and read the whole series in preparation for this review. I loved every minute of it, and there were moments where I almost cried. What a beautiful ending! I have to say that Gwen is hands down one of my most favorite main characters of all time. She was loyal, loving and flawed. She made mistakes and tried her hardest and she was utterly willing to give everything she had more than once to save her friends and the world.

If you are looking for a fantastic YA series to binge on, then look no further. All of these books are out and this one series you will absolutely adore.

Notable Scene:

It was life. All I could do was stand there, clutching the candle, and let the intense rush of power wash over me again and again, each wave a little hotter and brighter than the one before, and sweeping more and more of me away with it, as though the violent spark at the center of my being was melting like the whit was of the candle should have been. It took my breath away. Still, try as I might, I couldn’t unwrap my fingers from the smooth wax, and I knew that I was in serious danger of falling so far down into the artifact and the immense power it contained that I might never come back to myself again. I felt like I was drowning in the heat, being burned alive from the inside out…
