Look Who’s Going to RT: Cynthia Vespia

Cynthia Vespia

Can you introduce yourself to my readers a little?

I began my life of writing early in childhood, at the early age of eight. By the age of eighteen I started my career as a freelance journalist. My passion for writing novels always remained at the forefront. I’ve always enjoyed creating worlds and characters.

Today I write character driven suspense fiction. My Demon Hunter series is a trilogy of terror. It was nominated Best Series of 2009.

Life, Death and Back is my new paranormal thriller where death isn’t the end but only the beginning.

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
Life, Death and Back
is a contemporary story set in Connecticut but with a “twist.” Bryan Caleb has just died. The world he once knew intimately has now become foreign ground. Remaining on earth in the form of guardian for a troubled young girl he finds out all the rules have changed. I had alot of creative liberty because who can really say how someone who comes back from the dead is going to act.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
This is my second time at RT. The first year I had a lot of fun and gathered some good information. For first timers I would say it is what you make of it. Don’t feel so set to a structured schedule. Most of my best moments from last year came when I broke away from the pack and explored on my own. Remember to enjoy it.

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
I’ll be hosting a hands on workshop with fellow author James Buchannen. In honor of the Hollywood theme for RT it has been titled “Fight Club.”

We will be using the movie as an example of how to take Hollywood choreography and break it down to write effective fight scenes for your novels. I have a background in martial arts so we will be incorporating a live demonstration of a fight and also some hands on work for those interested in participating.

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
The Original Cyn! I’m author Cynthia Vespia. I write character driven thrillers, mostly contemporary with some dark fantasy as well. I’ll be at the Fight Club workshop on Friday at 2:15. Also, I’ll be signing copies of my best in series nominee Demon Hunter: The Chosen One at the Expo on Friday. And I’ll be at the Giant Book Fair signing copies of my new paranormal thriller Life, Death and Back. Hope to meet everyone of you!

Thanks for having me. If you are going to RT please stop by and say hello. I will be at both major signings on Friday and Saturday.
Also, like I said we are putting on an interactive workshop titled FIGHT CLUB discussing (and more importantly SHOWING) how to write fight scenes for novels.
Sorry, Brad Pitt won’t be there but we promise to make it fun!
