I am a writer of erotic romance who lives in the Texas Hill Country surrounded by cowboys that have become so many of my heroes. I love the world of erotic romance and the quality of the relationships I write about and I hit almost every subgenre from suspense to paranormal. On April 8th Ellora’s Cave will release my 100th title, Downstroke, which although it has an underlying suspense plot is really a rich love story about lovers reunited after bitter years apart. I spent ten years in the music business and used that as the backdrop for the story.
Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
My world is built around heroes and heroines who have conflicts to resolve, both individually and together. I love to write about a woman’s exploration of her sensuality and the man who helps her along the way. The majority of my stories are set in Texas and I use the rich history and landscape of the state to enhance them.
Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
This will be my fifth RT and each time gets better. For first timers I say check out the workshops that apply to the genre you write, look for those conducted by authors you love, and soak up everything you can. Use the program as a guide to find the things that will help you the most and introduce yourself to as many people as possible. They will become friends and, of course, readers!
Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to? What panels are you planning on attending?
One of my writing partners and I are conducting a panel on co-authoring and she and I and a third partner are doing a readers group about mysteries called Who Dunnit. Additionally, the authors who write in the Ellora’s Cave Cougar Challenge and I will be holding a Cougar Growl in Club Rt where we will be giving away, among other things, a 4 1/2 foot stuffed cougar.
If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
They should look for Desiree Holt. I’m listed in the program and many people know me. They can probably find me at the breakfast mixers and certainly at the opening night party hosted by Ellora’s Cave. All they have to do is holler and I’ll come running!
