Hello Everyone! I’m Mary Wine and my naughty inner child is Dawn Ryder. I’ve been very busy working on Highlanders and crafting a Steam Punk world for my upcoming novels. This March, I’m going to be delighted to see the third book release in my Highlander Saga from Sourcebooks…Highland Heat…the cover is lick-able. Right now you can get your hands on ‘Improper Seduction‘ from Kensington. You might want to make a little iced tea before cracking either of these tales open. I’m also sewing away for this year’s RT convention. I adore making historical clothing. I’m toying with a Steam Punk outfit or maybe a crown for the fairy ball to go with my 1550’s noble gown. I hope to see you all at the convention!
Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
In Highland Heat, 1448 Scotland has a boy on the throne and the nobles are fighting for control of him. The queen wants to remarry but she’s the cousin of the English King and many in Scotland fear any further children she might have. Deidre Chattan is in disgrace but she isn’t sorry only angry that the man she trusted with her heart betrayed her trust. The queen asks her for help and she wants a life of her own choosing, so she dresses as the Queen to draw away those chasing her. Quinton Cameron’s men take her back to the earl and he’s not pleased to see she’s placed herself in such a dangerous position. But he is pleased she’s secure inside his castle. Neither of these two intends to bend. Writing their tale was a battle because they have both known the pain of a broken heart.
In Improper Seduction, Bridget has a problem. Her father has sent for her, to wed at the court of Henry the Eighth but she’s been promised the Curan for three years. Curan arrives and has every intention of claiming his bride. Bridget’s mother decides to make sure her daughter knows a thing or two about controlling men and has a courtesan tudor her….
Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
Don’t plan anything for the day you return home…you’ll be catching up on your sleep!
Don’t let the costumes overwhelm you…go simple if you like, a hat or something small or go all the way!
If you see me, come on over, RT is about mixing.
Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to? What panels are you planning on attending?
There are so many…I’ll most likely be seen running through the hallways in an attempt to get to all the events. I am working on teaching at the early bird sessions.
If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
A Victorian bustle dress or a 1550’s court gown…possibly Victorian cycling outfit or I might have my ‘Votes for Women’ sash on with an 1895 afternoon dress. Since I don’t have to fly this year…I can bring it all…insert evil snicker.
