I began her writing career in 2005 after a vacation to Scotland and a hike on the Black Isle inspired me with the perfect setting for the characters running around in my head. The resulting debut novel, THIRTY NIGHTS WITH A HIGHLAND HUSBAND, won the Holt Medallion and Book Buyers Best awards in 2008 and made the finals of the Colorado Book Awards.
Since then, my imaginary world of Faeries and Mortals has continued to grow. HEALING THE HIGHLANDER, seventh book in the award-winning Daughters of the Glen series from Pocket Books, hit shelves on February 22, 2011 with the eighth – HIGHLANDER’S CURSE – on sale March 29, 2011.
Married and the mother of three sons, I live in beautiful Northern Colorado with my family and menagerie of pets.
I’d love to have you visit me on the web here.
Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
I write a paranormal time-travel series set in our world with a twist…Faeries exist. And these aren’t your basic Disney Faeries, by any stretch!
The underlying premises of the world are that long ago, Mortal and Fae coexisted in one place, but when their worlds were split, Magic was stripped from the Mortal world. In the ages since, the Fae have used Man’s world as a penal dumping ground for their societal rejects.
Now, Magic is returning, but not to the Fae stranded in the Mortal world. Instead, it’s in the hands of their half-mortal descendants.
Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
This will be my fifth RT. For first-timers, my best advice is to wear comfortable shoes and don’t be afraid to walk up to anyone and say ‘hello!’ We’re all there to meet and visit — even those introverts among us who [even after four RTs] still have trouble with that last bit of advice.
I have, however, definitely learned the comfortable shoes part.
Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to? What panels are you planning on attending?
Yes, MARKETING: Champagne Self-Promotion for Authors on a Beer Budget
Date: Friday April 8, 2011 02:45 pm – 03:45 pm and I’ll be spending time in Club RT, as well.
As far as panels I’m planning to attend, I’ll probably be making that decision day by day as I’m there. The Industry panels are always good and, since I was an addicted reader long before I began to write, I’ll be anxious to attend panels featuring my own favorite authors!
If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
As I alluded to earlier, I’m still struggling with the introvert thing, so I can usually be found at the back of the room. :-) My photo is on my website. I can assure you that I’d love to meet as many people as possible and I’m always up for sitting and talking books with everyone. Please don’t hesitate to stop me and introduce yourself!
