I’m Pamela Palmer and I love all things speculative (paranormal, fantasy, sci-fi). I also love a good romance, so it’s probably no surprise that my choice of fiction as both a reader and a writer is dark paranormal romance.
Per my bio: Pamela Palmer is the New York Times bestselling author of the Feral Warriors shape-shifter series and the dark paranormal Esri series. Pamela’s books have been nominated for and/or won numerous awards including the Daphne du Maurier, the Maggie, the Holt Medallion, and the Romantic Times Readers Choice. When Pamela’s initial career goal of captaining starships didn’t pan out, she turned to engineering, satisfying her desire for adventure with books and daydreams until finally succumbing to the need to create worlds of her own. Pamela lives and writes in the suburbs of Washington, D.C.
Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
Sure! Here’s the premise behind the Feral Warriors series: Eons ago, before the rise of human civilization, two immortal races battled the Daemons for control of the earth. The Mage, or magic ones, and the Therians, the mighty shape-shifters. Though traditional enemies, the Mage and Therians banded together to overcome the High Daemon, Satanan, ending his reign of terror and destroying his armies. The cost of victory was high. To win that ultimate battle, both races were forced to mortgage nearly all their power. Only one Therian among each of the ancient lines of shape-shifters was left with the power of his animal. Nine remain. They are the Feral Warriors.
The Feral Warriors are a band of brothers, a team of warriors, who live together in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. with their Radiant—the one woman of their race able to pull the energy from the Earth that empowers them. After centuries of cold war between the Ferals and the Mage, the battle is once more raging as an evil band of soulless Mage are determined to free the Daemons from their magical prison and once more unleash Hell on Earth. Only the Ferals stand a chance of stopping them.
Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
This will be my fourth RT Convention. My advice: bring your sense of fun and be ready to enjoy yourself! Wear comfortable shoes, make a list of your absolute must-sees and must-dos, then fill in where you have time. It’s impossible to do it all. And feel free to stop your favorite authors in the hall or run by to say hi during dinner. We’re there to meet with our readers.
Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to? What panels are you planning on attending?
I’ll be speaking on two different panels:
The Care and Feeding of a Paranormal Series with Kerrelyn Sparks and L.A. Banks (Wednesday, 4:45-5:45 pm) and The Plot Thickens: How to Keep Paranormal Fans Hooked with Angela Knight, Shannon K. Butcher, and Rebecca York (Thursday, 10-11 am)
I’ll probably try to sit in on a few of the Business, Media, and Marketing panels if I can fit them into my schedule.
If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
In addition to the two panels, above, I’ll also be signing books two different times:
Avon’s Dusk to Dark Mixer (Friday, 6:00-7:00)
Avon Books is hosting a mixer including food, beverages, and free books from some of your favorite paranormal romance authors.
The Giant Book Fair (Saturday, 11:00-2:00)
Over 300 authors signing at this one. It’s free to convention goers and open to the public for a $5.00 entrance fee. All books are sold at cover prices.
Please feel free to stop me at any time—in the halls, after one of the panels, whenever. I’m always delighted to meet readers and/or fellow authors!
