I Belong

On the first day after Christmas my true love gave to me…

…a mysterious circus.

Ever seen a circus? Think of any type of circus and the Night Circus is 10x more magical, 10x larger and 10x more exquisite than those other “normal” circuses. This circus only opens at midnight and closes at dawn. If the magnificent clock set in the ticket booth doesn’t astound you, then the giant bon fire will. The bon fire is never put out, never lighted more than once. It shines a brilliant white, casting eerie shadows around the circus. The smell of caramel apples, hot chocolate and cinnomen twists waft through the entire circus, giving a homey, warm atmosphere. There is no single tent with a constant performance from different people. No, there are unlimited amounts of tents in Le Cirque des Reves, each spotlighting a single performer. Can’t choose which tent to check out first? There are multiple miniture performances in between tents that are just as fasinating as the ones inside the tents. You might see a contortionist fold herself into a glass box then disappear. Or twins performing with kittens that flip through hoops. But no matter where you go inside the circus, everything is black and white. Dresses fade from night-sky black to starry white. Tuxes blend into their surroundings. Even the grass is powdered in white. Nothing short of magic can achieve all the impossibilities the circus entails. After several days or weeks, one day the circus will disappear. The field it had been in will not show a single sign of the plethora of tents it held the night before. The circus may have left the city, but it will never be forgotten in the minds of the audience…

Think this magical circus is intriguing? Read the entire story in…

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.

But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway: a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them both, this is a game in which only one can be left standing. Despite the high stakes, Celia and Marco soon tumble headfirst into love, setting off a domino effect of dangerous consequences, and leaving the lives of everyone, from the performers to the patrons, hanging in the balance.
