My name is Jaxon West. I’m not big on formalities, so I prefer Jax. Am I a badass? I’ll let you be the judge. I entered the Supernatural Smackdown for one reason: Elle Fredricks. She’d be the first person to tell you I don’t like to talk about myself. And I don’t care what people think about me. But I have to do this for Elle. I need to protect her, whether she knows it or not. Everyone needs to know her father is a killer, and she’s next on his list. I’m not going to let him touch her. Ever. I want the public to know his name and mine. Jedren Warlow. If he touches her, he dies.
During the day I’m delivery driver and handyman at Elle’s shop. I’m not there for the job or the money. I’m there for her. She’s my mate. I haven’t entirely convinced her of that, but keeping her alive should help my cause. I’ll take whatever I can get. She doesn’t trust easily, but who could blame her? She recently found out most of her life has been a lie.
At night I’m a hunter and bodyguard. Elle doesn’t know about that, and I want to keep it that way. She has enough on her plate right now.
I don’t usually discuss my hunts, but the process is pretty cut and dry. I’m hired to track and retrieve objects and people. Sometimes both. I’m only called in for the difficult hunts, such as when someone goes rogue or might not want to cooperate. I’m not an offensive fighter. As a gargoyle, I don’t have to be. My stone form and wings are…intimidating. Despite the weight, there isn’t a creature alive who can outrun a gargoyle. I’m fast, and my night vision is perfect. My reputation takes care of the rest. Weapons are worthless to me. When I shift to gargoyle, I have no place to put a knife or gun, which is just as well. The only weapons I use are my fists, and I only have to use them once. I mean I’ve only had to use them once.
The worst hunt was the one that earned me a reputation. Eight years ago I was hired to find a rogue phoenix. He’d decided to set fire to everyone who pissed him off. By the time I found him, he’d reduced seven innocent people to little piles of ashes. He thought I should be number eight. I took exception to that and hit him. The good news is he didn’t have a chance to hurt anyone else. The bad news is I was in gargoyle form when I hit him. It was a knee-jerk reaction. One I never repeated. I’ll leave it at that.
You can understand why I keep a tight rein on my temper. I’m good under pressure, except where Elle is concerned. She’s determined to go after her fate. Her father is determined to kill her. He’s sent his best hunters after her. That’s why I need your help. I’m fast, accurate and deadly. But against an army, I’m still only one gargoyle. I’m not worried about my reputation. I’m worried about Elle. I’ll kill them all if they try to touch her, but I hope it doesn’t come to that. She’s seen enough violence in her life.
I don’t know if any of this makes me a badass, but I need your vote to keep Elle out of danger. She means everything to me. In the meantime, I’ll plow through Jedren’s hunters one by one. The last thing they’ll see will be one pissed off gargoyle. My kill numbers will grow exponentially if necessary. She deserves the chance to know her fate. I deserve the chance to love her. I’ll do whatever it takes to make that happen.

About the Book:
When a regular night of Robin Hood-ery results in the manifestation of some, um, unusual paranormal abilities, perfume-maker Elleodora Fredricks realizes the normal world she lives in isn’t quite… normal. And neither is she, thanks to her father, king of the shadow elves. Not only is he evil incarnate and the reason Elle moonlights as a burglar-someone has to take care of all his victims-he’s stolen her memories.
And only reading her fate can fix that.
Good thing she’s got a trio of hotties willing to help her find said fate, but only if she gives them something in return. Saving her oracle BFF’s fiance, falling in love with the gargoyle, and making up for breaking the phoenix’s heart ought to be a piece of cake for the princess of the shadow elves.
If only the king didn’t want his daughter dead…
