Job: Owner and pilot of the space cruiser El Cazador de la Sangre (Blood Hunter)
Weight: Lean and mean
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Dark brown or crimson when I’ve just eaten
From (Location): Spain, a long time ago
Significant Other: Skylar Rossario
Signature Move: Don’t have one – that would make me predicable.
Enemies: Not enough room here to list them. Hey, I tend to piss people off—it’s part of my charm. But if I had to name one enemy, I’d say the church. I hate the church—but they started it.
Favorite Pastimes: Fighting and sex—preferably in that order. But with Skylar it’s often at the same time—she’s one fiery woman!
My name’s Ricardo Sanchez, Rico to my friends, and I’m a vampire. I was born in Spain in 1492 which makes me one-thousand, five-hundred and ninety-six years old— but who’s counting.
I had a hankering for my own space ship ever since watching Star Wars back on Earth a long time ago. You could say I modeled my current persona on Han Solo—a sort of Han Solo with fangs, but better looking—obviously. So the whole space age was great for me, and when I got the chance, I bought The Cazador, (though actually ‘bought’ might not be the right word here) did a few design changes, painted her up, found a captain to take care of the boring bits, and I was ready to go. Ricardo Sanchez—space pirate and all round badass.
Am I a badass? Hell yeah! You don’t get to live as long as I have without being a little bit bad or without learning how to fight. Not that I’m in the habit of starting fights—unless I really don’t like someone, or maybe if I’m hungry, or the money’s good….
But while I’m a badass, the truth is, I could be much worse. I know what I am, and I accepted it a long time ago, embraced it even, but I’ve also learnt to keep my less sociably acceptable side under control (and some people, like all my crew, just don’t seem to appreciate what a lot of hard work that is). Luckily, there’s one sure way of keeping that darkness locked down—sex—and lots of it.
Why did I enter the match? Well it was mainly because of Tannis. She’s the captain of El Cazador – the one who does all that boring stuff and makes sure I don’t eat the crew. She heard about the Smackdown, and she bet me I wouldn’t enter. Then she told the rest of the crew and, dios mio, but they can be persistent. Anyway, we’ve been busy lately and we all deserve a little R&R, so I thought—why not? And just maybe, when I win, I’ll get a little more respect around here.
But that’s not the only reason. I’m old, and I plan on living a lot longer, and I’ve learnt over the years that the worst thing an immortal can face isn’t a monster, or another immortal, but boredom. Boredom can sap the life right out of you. So I make it a rule never to be bored. I enjoy my life. I’ve learned how to have fun, and the Supernatural Smackdown looked fun. So here I am…
My favorite weapons? Well, there’s my sword. I got it off a Samurai shape shifter back in the nineteenth century. And my laser pistol, that’s obviously a lot newer but still pretty cool. But really, I don’t need a weapon. I’m fast, super-strong, I’ve got very sharp teeth, and being a vampire, I like to get up close and personal. In fact, all my best kills have been hand-to-hand, including my first.
My first kill as a vampire was the people who murdered my wife—after all that is why I embraced the darkness—good old fashioned revenge. The Inquisition burnt her as a witch. Have I mentioned the fact that I hate the Church? But I think it’s fair to say that the ones responsible paid the price. And more.
Can I win the Smackdown? Hell yes. Probably blind-folded with one hand tied behind my back. But that’s beside the point. I’ve got no choice—I have to win. I’ve made a bet with Tannis—she gets my right fang if I lose. She reckons she’s going to wear it on a chain around her scrawny lizard neck. I mean, can we really let that happen? I’ll look a bloody idiot with only one fang.
So do a vampire a favor and vote for me!
Nina Croft grew up in the north of England. After training as an accountant she spent four years working as a volunteer in Zambia which left her with a love of the sun and a dislike of 9-5 work. She then spent a number of years mixing travel (whenever possible) with work (whenever necessary) but has now settled down to a life of writing and picking almonds on a remote farm in the mountains of southern Spain.
Nina shares the farm with a husband, three dogs, four cats, a horse, two goats and a handful of chickens. It’s a perfect place to indulge her two great passions, reading and writing.
Nina’s writing mixes romance with elements of the paranormal and science fiction.

The year is 3048, Earth is no longer habitable, and man has fled to the stars where they’ve discovered the secret of immortality—Meridian. The Collective, as they’re called, rule the universe.
Two-thousand-year-old Ricardo Sanchez, vampire and rogue pilot of the space cruiser, El Cazador, can’t resist two things: gorgeous women and impossible jobs. When beautiful Skylar Rossaria approaches him to break a prisoner out of the Collective’s maximum security prison on Trakis One, Rico jumps at the chance. About the Book:
Breaking assassin Jonathon Decker out of a maximum security prison on Trakis One seemed like a good idea at the time. Now, pursued across space by the two most powerful factions in the universe, the crew of El Cazador are having second thoughts. They’d like to give him back. Unfortunately, that no longer seems an option.
Jon is used to working alone. Now, he’s stuck on the space cruiser El Cazador until he can work out just what he’s supposed to know that puts him on everybody’s most-wanted-dead list. He s not happy that the crew includes a runaway priestess with designs on his virtue such as it is. Jon likes women, but he gave up the role of protector a long time ago, and Alexia, High Priestess of the Church of Everlasting Life, is an accident waiting to happen.
After twenty-four excruciatingly boring years of doing her duty, Alex is finally having some fun. She never meant to run away it was a rash impulse and she means to go back eventually. But first, she’s going to squeeze enough excitement out of the situation to last her a lifetime. And what could be more exciting than a stunningly gorgeous werewolf?
Meanwhile, the Church are chasing their missing priestess, and the Collective are pursuing their escaped assassin. Being hunted has never been more deadly…or more fun.
