Greetings and salutations! I want to say thanks to Angela and Rachel for asking me to be part of the Supernatural Smackdown. Thanks so much, ladies!
So today, I was asked to share a little bit about Gin Blanco, the heroine of my Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series. I thought I’d let Gin tell you about herself, so take it away, Gin:
My name is Gin, and I kill people.
I’ve said that from the very beginning, and that’s all you really need to know about me. Oh, you want more? Well, here goes.
By day, I run a barbecue restaurant called the Pork Pit in Ashland, a Southern city that’s as dirty, gritty, and corrupt as they come. Ashland may seem like a charming place to visit, but looks are definitely deceiving in this case.
By night, I moonlight as the assassin the Spider. I’m known for my tendency to creep around in the shadows, take out my target when he least expects it, and disappear into the shadows once more. I used to kill people for money, but these days, I run more of a pro bono service, helping good, decent folks who have problems that the law can’t handle.
Problems like Mab Monroe. Mab is the Fire elemental who’s the head of the Ashland underworld. Most folks think that Mab is a generous businesswoman who donates to all sorts of good causes in the city and beyond. But those of us who walk in the shady side of life know Mab for what she really is – ruthless.
I’ve had a little more experience with Mab than most, since she murdered my mother and older sister when I was thirteen – and tortured me while she was at it. I managed to escape, but after that, I was forced to live on the mean streets of Ashland until I was taken in by Fletcher Lane, the old man who ran the Pork Pit before me. Fletcher was an assassin known as the Tin Man, and he taught me everything I know about how to help folks quit breathing.
On my jobs as the Spider, I usually take out my targets with the five silverstone knives that I carry with me – one up either sleeve, one in the small of my back, and two more tucked into the sides of my boots. If the knives aren’t enough to get the job done, I have my Ice and Stone elemental magic to fall back on. It’s pretty tough to keep going with an Ice knife in your chest, and my Stone magic lets me make my own skin as hard as marble, something that comes in handy when I’m going fist-to-fist with the giants, dwarves, vampires, humans, and other elementals who call Ashland home.
As for why I entered the Supernatural Smackdown, I always enjoy a challenge – and going up against the best of the best seemed like a mission that was especially suited for the Spider.
So there you have it – a little bit about my heroine Gin Blanco. What about you guys? Do you like assassin characters? What are some of your favorite urban fantasy characters and books?

About the Book:
Old habits die hard. And I plan on murdering someone before the night is through.
Killing used to be my regular gig, after all. Gin Blanco, aka the Spider, assassin-for-hire. And I was very good at it. Now, I’m ready to make the one hit that truly matters: Mab Monroe, the dangerous Fire elemental who murdered my family when I was thirteen.
Oh, I don’t think the mission will be easy, but turns out it’s a bit more problematic than expected. The bitch knows I’m coming for her. So now I’m up against the army of lethal bounty hunters she hired to track me down. She also put a price on my baby sister’s head. Keeping Bria safe is my first priority. Taking Mab out is a close second.
Good thing I’ve got my powerful Stone and Ice magic — and my irresistible lover Owen Grayson — to watch my back. This battle has been years in the making, and there’s a chance I won’t survive. But if I’m going down, then Mab’s coming with me…no matter what I have to do to make that happen.
