Valentine’s Day Book Massacre Giveaway

Is love in the air or is it dead all together?  Either way, it’s time for another celebration for my top commentators and followers.

Answer the following question:

Tell us your Top 3 romantic couples or What’s your favorite love story? Why?

My Top 3 romantic couples are:

1. Buffy and Angel – need I say more? I mean really!  I hadn’t discovered BtVS and Angel until 2 years ago.  I know, try not to laugh at me.  When both shows were running I completely dismissed them as fluff.  I was all about X-Files and thought TV vampires were campy and lame.  I ended up getting box sets for both shows as a gift, and they completely changed my life.

2. Jack and Rose (Titanic) and Clark and Lana (Smallville) – this just had to be a tie for me.  Jack and Rose have such a beautifully tragic love story.  I literally sob every time I watch this movie.  The demise of Clark’s relationship with Lana really broke my heart.  I know that based on Superman lore it was inevitable, but it really affected me.  Lois has grown on me this season of Smallville and I love her scenes with Clark.

3. Noah and Allie (The Notebook) – this is an absolutely amazing book and movie.  This beautifully told and breathtaking love story really touched me.

    Top 3 romantic couples
OK so now you set me a poser. For me a couple must be friends not just lovers but in the romance department, especially in books, I have a taste for the tragic. Even as a small child I loved the opera Pagliacci which ends with main character stabbing his unfaithful wife and her lover to death! Another (heart-wrenching) favourite are Simon and Cassandra from ‘I Capture the Castle’.

The one exception for me is
1)Elizabeth Bennet & Fitzwilliam Darcy but then P&P is one of my favourite books.

If I had to choose 2 other couples I’ve shipped for that didn’t end in heartbreak I’d have to say
    2)Harry Potter & Ginny Weasley
    3)Westley & Princess Buttercup

    1. Jamie and Claire Fraser from the Outlander Series. Perfectly balanced couple that are so incredibly in love that even time cant separate them
    2. Edward and Bella from the Twilight Saga. Umm ’nuff said.
    3. Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy. Both stubborn but has a love that surpasses anything.

Belle and the Beast (Beauty and the Beast) ~ This is one of my favorite movies. Belle is a Disney Princess that is worth looking up to.

Beth and Wrath (Black Dagger Brotherhood series) ~ I became addicted to this series after reading their story in Dark Lover.

Bones and Cat (Night Huntress series) ~ I love how mismatched they are and hello, BONES!

    Top 3?

    1. Alice & Jasper (Twilight)
These 2 seemed like they were meant to be together, like they are a perfect fit together.
    2. Sam & Grace (Shiver)
They both understand what its like to have to grow up & take care of yourself.
    3. Grace & Daniel (The Dark Divine)
Both are more concerned with the welfare of the other.

    1. Cassie and Barney from The Bumblebee Flies Anyway by Robert Cormier – It’s real, honest love at the centre of a fantastic book that taught me a lot of things.

    2. Romeo and Juliet – Classic and the best. No love story is going to top this one.

    3. Maxim de Winter and the second Mrs. de Winter from Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier – A beautifully dark love story. I absolutely adore this couple and the book’s brilliant.

    GREAT giveaway!

    3 Favorite Couples:

Sam and Grace from Shiver- They’re just so sweet to one another. Neither of them have anyone in their lives, but then they have each other.

Nora and Patch from Hush, Hush. I love all the teasing that led to their relationship. They would both sacrifice themselves for each other.

Luce and Daniel from Fallen. After centuries of diasters, they both still feel drawn and love each other. It’s heartbreakingly beautiful!

This was a story that was able to tell the actual love story and is for all ages to enjoy : )

I found this contest just in the nick of time! My favorite love story is Les Miserables. I think I love it so much because of the setting and the entire theme of the story of empathy for those less fortunate. Love for all enables love to conquer all on many levels in this story. Romantic love and love for a child both prevail!

This is a great giveaway! I’m glad I found it. My top three couples?
    1. Allie and Noah from The Notebook, I cry so much during that movie. Or the book. It also got me hooked on the poetry of Walt Whitman.

    2. Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett. I’m always amazed at how they end up together. It get me every time.

    3. The Doctor and Rose. I know technically they never declared their love for each other but I’d like to think theres a universe out there where they are happy together.

I’m so happy I found this site!

My favorite love stories tend to have the Beauty and the Beast theme- whether I am the beauty or the beast is debatable.
    Favorite couples:
    1. Belle and the Beast from Beauty and the Beast. Singing, magic, Disney…the trifecta gets me every time.
    2. Bella and Zsadist – another play off of Beauty and the Beast. I love a man with scars. I love them even more when they are wrapped up in muscles and leather. Oh…and he sings like an angel.
    3. Cat and Bones – She’s a curvy girl from the wrong side of the tracks. He’s sex on a stick and no good for her yet everything she could ever want or need in a man. The fact that they both have a mouth on them is classic.

    1. Melinda & Jim from Ghostwhisperer – They’re perfect. They never fight, their love is unconditional. He died and took over another body to stay with her! And when she looks at him, she still only sees Jim. So romantic! *swoon*

    2. Buffy & Angel – I watched from the beginning, and they’re the first couple I ever cheered, screamed and cried for. In my heart, they’re together always.

    3. Clare & Henry from The Time Traveler’s Wife – Destined to be together. They’re love is epic and tragic!

    1. Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet (Pride and Prejudice) -I think their relationship is the classic ‘the more you hate the more you love’ attraction. I fall for it every time.

    2. Romeo and Juliet – For me their love signifies a love we all yearn most, try to reach out to and eventually lose. It was only an illusion; fate would never have allowed forbidden love. That’s why I love it.

    3. Patch and Nora (Hush, hush) – I love the irony of having an angel bad boy, and I can wholeheartedly relate to Nora’s actions and reactions to Patch throughout the book ( I keep thinking I actually will do the same things).

    My 3 favourite love

    – Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe of the Anne series by Lucy Maud Montgomery: I still consider the ideal love when two good friends fall in love with each other. And I also love that Gilbert has been in love with Anne for years but remained her friend since she didn’t want and wasn’t ready for more.

    – Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett: the most classic of love stories, and one I can’t ever tire of.

    – Veronica Mars and Logan Echolls from Veronica Mars: they are perfect for each other, their quirky banter and epic love is what made me love this couple. I’m so sorry the show got cancelled, it would have been great to see them and their relationship mature.

    Top 3:

    1. Elizabeth & Darcy. Yes, predictable, but I just can’t pass up Pride & Prejudice. It’s so subtle & yet wonderful.

    2. Christy & Todd from the Christy Miller series by Robin Jones Gunn. I could blame it on my loving teenage heart, but, well, I shouldn’t. : )

    3. Gambit & Rogue. I think it’s the Cajun accent and her inability to have physical contact. Fascinating.
