Valentine’s Day Book Massacre Giveaway

Is love in the air or is it dead all together?  Either way, it’s time for another celebration for my top commentators and followers.

Answer the following question:

Tell us your Top 3 romantic couples or What’s your favorite love story? Why?


My Top 3 romantic couples are:

1. Buffy and Angel – need I say more? I mean really!  I hadn’t discovered BtVS and Angel until 2 years ago.  I know, try not to laugh at me.  When both shows were running I completely dismissed them as fluff.  I was all about X-Files and thought TV vampires were campy and lame.  I ended up getting box sets for both shows as a gift, and they completely changed my life.

2. Jack and Rose (Titanic) and Clark and Lana (Smallville) – this just had to be a tie for me.  Jack and Rose have such a beautifully tragic love story.  I literally sob every time I watch this movie.  The demise of Clark’s relationship with Lana really broke my heart.  I know that based on Superman lore it was inevitable, but it really affected me.  Lois has grown on me this season of Smallville and I love her scenes with Clark.

3. Noah and Allie (The Notebook) – this is an absolutely amazing book and movie.  This beautifully told and breathtaking love story really touched me.

    Knox and Tynan– Prophecy Saga. Love that knows no bounds. Selflessness and unimaginable dedication is a hard thing to find.

    Tyler Durden and the Narrator– such a fucked up relationship, even though they are one in the same, and they are not romantic in the valentines sense of the meaning, there is a picture perfect dysfunctionality of their relationship and the Narrator is the woman and Tyler is the man. It is just amazing.

    Peg and Al Bundy (married with children) their relationship gave hope to those with dysfunctional families that they are normal and there is hope that will will be okay and that everyone will find someone. They really are a romantic couple, the way the look at each other and talk shit. So romantic.

    3 of my favorite love stories are:
    1. Robin and Stone from General Hospital. This is a love story that was done so well I can not sum it up into words. I was only a little kid when they were together (mid 90s) but I always find myself watching old scenes. Stone died from AIDS; it was heartbreaking.

    2. Lloyd and Diane from Say Anything. Oh my! I love this movie so much because of this couple. Lloyd is the type of guy that I would love to have. He’s sweet, very sweet.

    3. Remy and Dexter from This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen. I love reading about their relationship. I really thought the characters were really good!

    Tell us your Top 3 romantic couples or What’s your favorite love story? Why?
    1. Romeo and Juliet because they are THE romantic couple. That’s it!
    2. Winnie Foster and Jesse Tuck from Tuck Everlasting. That guy makes me sigh and cry every time he opens his mouth lol. And even if it has a sad ending, i think is more realistic and original.
    3.Katherine and Heathcliff: I loved the eccentric way they had to express their love. You know you’re supposed to hate them but their love story is so tragic, you can’t help but love them xD

    1. Belle and the Beast from Disney’s the Beauty and the Beast because that’s my all-time fave Disney movie and I thought their love story was just perfect.

    2. Katsa and Po from Graceling. I really liked how they both “grew up” together in the story.

    3. Juliet and Ross from Silk and Secrets by Mary Jo Putney. They are one of my top my favorite romance novel couples. I thoroughly enjoyed their story and it was a bit different from many romances I’ve read (and I’ve read a lot!).

    1. Ron and Hermione (Harry Potter) – By far my favourite. They are such complete opposites yet they work so well together. I loved watching their development over the series – they started out not liking one another to becoming best friends to a perfectly mismatched couple. <3!

    2. Rose and Dimitri (Vampire Academy) – I guess you'd call theirs a tragic love story :( They're the forbidden couple who, despite the obstacles, cannot deny their growing love. No matter the cost, even when things get 'really bad' they don't give up on one another.

    3. I have to agree with you on Rose and Jack from Titanic. That is one of my favourite movies and I never fail to cry at the end. A beautiful love story that will continue to continue to stand the test of time!

    1. William Wallace and Murron–Braveheart…she gives him a flower at the grave of his father when they are children and so the spark starts. When he comes back as an adult, he immediately seeks her out. Their love ends tragically, but he starts a war over her!

    2. Romeo and Juliet–The first story that showed me that true love could be glorious and painful.

    3. I was going to say Katherine and Heathcliff, but, my God, I love the tragic couples! LOL! So I’m going to say Edward and Bella because they made me remember what it felt like when you find your first love.

    Top 3 romantic couples (not easy to pick just 3)

    1. Scarlett and Rhett….*sigh* so tragic and heartbreaking. To realize you love him only to lose him.
    2. Leo and Piper from Charmed….they went through a lot to have a life together.
    3. Gwen and Drustan from Kiss of the Highlander by Karen Marie Moning and Chloe and Dageus from Dark Highlander by Karen Marie Moning……….I love these two equally. They both had to over come insurmountable odds.

    1. Dracula and Mina from Bram Stoker’s Dracula – My favorite tragic love story. When I watched the film, I was heartbroken for Dracula.

    2. Leo and Piper from Charmed – an angel and a witch who defied rules to be together, and it’s amazing how they love each other and stuck together with all the stuffs that happened to them.

    3. Clary and Jace from Mortal Instruments – trying to fight their feelings because it is “wrong” in the eyes of other people, but then realizing it doesn’t matter when you know what you feel is right.

    My Top 3 romantic couples:

    1. Sam and Grace of Shiver by maggie stiefvater, because they have this strong connection. It’s so strong that they were actually able to relate to each other even though they were different species.

    2. Nora and Patch of Hush, hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. They have chemistry. Chemistry that involves charged atmosphere and life-saving moments and doubts. There’s nothing like having a guardian angel boyfriend.

    3. Clary and Jace of the Mortal Instruments. When a brother and a sister fall in love with each other, nothing can stand in their way.

    2. Elena and Stefan from Vampire Diaries (the tv show)- I haven’t read the books yet but I love them on the show because they are so cute when they banter and his protectiveness is quite hot
    3. Sam and Grace from Maggie Stiefvater’s Shiver- because you want your relationship with your boyfriend to be like their’s (well, minus the whole tragic part). They seem so natural together.

    My Top 3 Couples Are:
    1. Rose & Dimitri from Vampire Academy Series – Mostly because the fact they can’t be together, which makes their story more exciting and incredibly sexy. I know it’s kinda clice, but that’s it!
    2. Clary & Jace from The Mortal Instruments Series – Not that they’re a solid couple, but they could be. I love the way Jace protects her and how he tells her he was only thinking about protect her and forgot the others. It’s sad that they have discovered some bad stuff that kind of forbid their relationship.
    3. Nora & Patch from Hush, Hush – Mostly because of Patch, he gave up of everything he wanted to save/be with her. And I can’t wait to the next book to see what happens to this lovely couple. I wish my boyfriend was my angel as well. *dreaming* Hhaha!

    My top 3 romantic couples would be:

    1. Dimitri&Rose from The Vampire Academy Series! Do I need to say more? I just love them together. They’re epic! Rose is kick-ass and Dimitri is…he’s just perfect..not at all like all the run-of-the-mill heroes we get so often in books these daysAlso he is seven years older then her and they have to struggle with that. Plus the whole thing where he turns Strigoi really adds to the dramatic affect:D Its heartbreaking.

    2. Daniel&Grace from The Dark Divine. Their story is so beautiful.The fact that they have loved each other since childhood and the obstacles they had to overcome…they just deserve to be happy togehter. I dont know..it’s just beautiful.

    3. Ethan&Lena from Beautiful Creatures. Well the fact the the girl is the dangerous one with the supernatural abilities is pretty rare for one. But their love was just so beautiful. The way Ethan never gave her up and the way she leaned on him and he was practically the only thing that kept her from breaking because of her curse..was just beautiful. Their lovestory felt unbelievably real.

    - Empowered and Thug Boy (from comics, Empowered). They’re so perfectly normal and I love how he loves her and deals with her issues and how she centers him and deals with his issues.

    - Noah and Allie (the Notebook). I mean, come on, how could they not be on this list? They have one of the most amazing love stories.

    - Jax and March (Grimspace, etc. by Ann Aguirre). They are just made of awesome. I love how she won’t leave him when he goes dark and how he finds her despite turning into a freaking psychopath.

    My favorite romantic couples…hum it’s not easy.
    1) Clay and Elena in the otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong. I can’t tell you why i love this couple because He’s a real pain in the ass, and very jealous and possesive but still i find it very romantic that he’s been waiting all his life for her, knowing she’d come back to him sooner or later…*sigh*

    2)Jaime and Claire from the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. I love this couple, and it’s SO romantic…they’ve been separated for years but they kept true to their love for eachother.(I’m sensing a pattern here lol)

    3)Joel and Clementine from the movie ‘Eternal Sushine of a Spotless Mind’. Their love is so strong that no matter how hard they try to forget their love, it never lasts. This is one of my favorite movie ever

    1. Hermione and Ron (Harry Potter): I loved all of the build up towards this relationship finally starting. Especially when Hermione sent those birds to attack Ron when he was being ridiculous.

    2. Alice and Dana (The L Word): These two were so goofy, but so in love. They had their ups and downs, but when I compared them to all of the other relationships throught the six season of this show, these two seemed the most sincere.

    My favorite is love story is of Vanyel and Stefen from Mercedes Lackey’s Last Herald Mage trilogy. It’s my favorite for two reasons, 1) it shows that gay romance has a place in main stream fantasy writing, and that this romance can be second to actual plot (it’s not a “coming” out story, the gay story line is just part of the story, like hetro romances usually are) and 2) it also shows that even after loosing one’s first love (even if they are magically linked for life), that person can find love and caring again.

    1. Rose and Jack (Titanic) – My favorite movie couple. I love stories about true love and soulmates. That was Jack and Rose. I fell in love with their story from the moment the movie started.

    1. Eve and Rourke from the In Death book series- Rourke is the ultimate romantic and carries a button from Eve’s tattered coat in his pocket. I love how they grapple with decisions and they have such a beautiful chemistry.
    2. Nick and Nora from the Thin Man movies- Truly one of the funniest couples ever!
    3. Cat and Bones from Night Huntress books- I read these books in one sitting and can’t get enough! Frost created such vibrant characters and it is so easy to forge that emotional involvement.

    What’s your favorite love story? Why?

    My favorite love store would be Pride & Prejudice, Mr Darcy and Lizzie, because they actually kind of hate each other at the beginning . They were wrong about each other and they think they are better than the other one, but then a lot of stuff happens and they learn life it isn’t as they think.     This is jusy too hard of a question to answer so for my sake I am going to narrow it down to just YA books… :]

    1. Jessica Darling and Marcus Flutie from the Jessica Darling Series by Megan McCafferty.
    I <3 Marcus. He is my favorite bad boy turned good. I started off hating him and then fell completely in love with him. It was pretty comical for me when I thought about it later.

    2. Bianca and Lucas from the Evernight Series by Claudia Gray.
    I love love love forbidden romances. And this series is one of my favorites!! :] I can't wait for Hourglass.

    3. I have a tie.
    3a. Schuyler and Jack from the Blue Bloods series by Melissa de la Cruz because of the same reason as above, mainly. I love it when romances are such like romeo and juliet, only without the killing themsevles aspect.
    3b. Belly and Conrad from the Summer I Turned Pretty by Janny Han. I can't wait for this sequel. There is something very power about stories about two people falling in love after they have known each other forever. Conrad is also a bad boy. Gotta love those!!

    My favorite couples.. there are some many.
    But agree with alie and Noah from the notebook, I cry every single time I watch the movie, the story is just soooo beautiful.
    I like Rose and Dimitri from VA, but I have to admit I was kinda disapointed with Blood Promise (romance wise), I hope Spirit Bound will pick this up, I want these 2 to have their happy endings!
    Also like Faythe and Marc from the shiters series, they hate each other, they love each other, there relation is so intense but in the end they are always there for each other!

    My favourite love story is A Knight in Shining Armour by Jude Devereaux. The heroine had no self-esteem at the beginning of the novel and was in a bad relationship, but when she met her knight from the past and fell in love with him, it brought tears to my eyes. His past was not so great and when he had to go past to his time, she decided to follow him back and help him. That is one of the few books on my bookshelf that I never lend to anybody.

    Their relationship was so intense, but they were meant for each through time.

    01. Han and Leia (Star Wars) – The first fandom couple I ever loved.
    02. Ron and Hermione (Harry Potter) – I love them! Polar opposites and dynamic personalities. Not to mention loyal.

    1. Zsadist and Bella(from The Black Dagger Brotherhood) because for the longest time Zsadist wasn’t himself, he was lost. He would kill mercilessly and never allowed anyone to touch him. But then Bella came along and saved him from himself.

    2. Murdoch and Daniela because even though they went through a rough patch together at first, being that Daniela couldn’t touch him and Murdoch being secretive all the time. They we finally able to love each other for who they were. Oh and Murdoch sacrificed quite alot for Danii :mrgreen:

    My favorite love story has always been the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast. I read every kind of retelling I can get my hands on.

    1. Phedre no Delauney de Montreve and her consort Joscelin Verieul from the Kushiel’s Legacy series by Jacqueline Carey. This is just one of the reasons this is my absolute favorite series.
    2. Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin. This is a classic couple that so many romance novels are based on.
    3. Henry De Tamble and Clare from The Time-Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffennegger. Their love is so powerful that it pulls Henry through time to be with her.

    Hmmm. This is a tough one!!!

    1. Christian and Satine from Moulin Rouge. LOVE that movie. One of the most beautiful love stories ever.

    2. Definitely Bella and Edward. The world can say anything they want about them, but Twilight is a timeless love story that inspired me. Love it always.

    3. Chuck and Blair. Although Gossip Girl might seem rather shallow, Chuck and Blair’s relationship is one of the sweetest I’ve ever witnessed. They are perfect for each other and bring out the best in the other.

    Favorite love story… Hum… I’m gonna say La dame aux camélias (Lady of the camelias) by Alexandre Dumas. My mom lent me the book a few years ago, and I loved it, even though it’s a sad love story. It’s one of the few books that has made me cry.

    My favorite love story is Wuthering Heights, although its tragic and ends badly. Its just so heartwrenching what Heathcliff and Kathy put themselves through and how much they truly loved each other, but because of their own choices they could never be together.     Captian Wentworth and Ann from Persuasion (though I love Pride and Prejudice I have to say I think this story is my my favorite.)Its about love lost and love found again.

    1. Blair and Chuck, just because I love the both of them together and their story is different:)
    2. Peeta and Katniss from the Hunger Games because I love Peeta for how much he loves Katniss:)
    3. Macy and Wes from the Truth About Forever. I love their story. It’s really sweet and I’m kind of secretly in love with Wes:)

    1. Lizze and Darcy from Pride and Prejudice– I love this story and how everything happens. They’re just so amazing!

    2. Rose and Dimitri from the Vampire Academy– to me, this love showed that there is no limits or restrictions on who falls in love with who…it just happens.

    3. Romeo and Juliet– it’s a classic and it also shows that people in love can do some very stupid things…but all in the name of love!

    It would be impossible for me to name only one love story because I’m such a sap (LOL) and am a serious sucker for a happy ending! And picking only three couples was difficult as well, but here are the three that stick out in my mind:

    1. Acheron and Tory from Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark-Hunter series.
