Of course! My name is Beth Williamson and I love romance in all shapes and forms. I’ve been reading romance forever, writing it for fifteen years, and published for six years. I am firm believer everyone deserves a happily ever after.
I write both contemporary and historical western romance, with a dabble in erotica now and then.
I live just outside Raleigh, NC with my husband and I have two teenage boys (who keep me in a constant state of insanity). LOL. Normal, right?
Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
I create very character-driven, emotional stories that usually revolve around a family (related by blood or not). The characters become so real to me, I dream of them, have conversations with them, cry and laugh with them.
My characters are also “real life” people with real problems. I’ve had heroines who are homeless, scarred and disabled. I’ve written heroes who are alcoholics, suffer from PTSD and my latest hero is missing his left arm.
I think it helps readers identify with them, since they are not perfect in any sense, but just another person they might know.
Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
I’m a veteran. I’ve been going since 2006, so this RT will be my fifth (I missed the 2010 for my 20th anniversary cruise with hubby).
My advice is to relax and have fun. There will be many amazing things to see and hear and experience. You can take in as little or as much as you want.
Open your arms and embrace the world of romance and all its facets, whether they’re diamond shiny or rainbow colored!
Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to? What panels are you planning on attending?
Yes, I am speaking in two panels and participating in one reader event. I’ll also be at Club RT on Thursday at 10:30. It’s going to be a busy conference!
CRAFT: The Good, the Bad, and the Hunky Cowboy on Wednesday 4/6, from 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm – So much fun with my fellow western writers talking about all flavors of western romance, from sweet to scorching.
E-BOOK & E-MARKETING: From Digital to Print on Friday, 4/8, from 11:15 am – 12:15 pm – I’m joining the amazing Lauren Dane and Megan Hart to talk about moving from e-books to print books.
READER: Western Reader Roundup on Wednesday, 4/6, from 1:00 pm – 02:00 pm – A western party complete with free books, swag, a tote bag, line dancing and perhaps a hunky cowboy to join in the fun.
If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
They should look for the western author with a big smile and a big laugh. I have such a great time talking to readers and just hanging out. I am never afraid to say howdy to anyone and look forward to meeting new and old friends. I’ll likely be wearing boots too.
