I can’t remember a time when I didn’t want to be a writer when I grew up, but there were plenty of times when I wasn’t sure I ever would be. As it turns out, it just took me about twenty years longer to grow up than I expected!
On the road to publication, I took a few detours, including a stint in academia (I hold an MA in Classics from the University of Chicago and was a recipient of a Mellon Fellowship in the Humanities) and many years as a technical writer/instructional designer for a data processing company. I still hold my day job in instructional design, but my true passion is writing steamy romances-both historical and contemporary.
I learned to believe in love at first sight when I met the man of my dreams over twenty years ago and to believe in happily ever after when I married him. I live in Southern California with my husband, our three children, and an ever-changing menagerie of pets.
You can learn more about me and my books at my website.
Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
I love to write erotic historical romances set in the Georgian and Regency periods. I’m particularly drawn to the contrasts between the strict moral codes people preached in public whilst often engaging in wildly immoral behavior when they thought no one was looking. I also confess to having a particular weakness for stories in which innocence is debauched, and the restrictions of a well-bred Englishwoman’s upbringing make exploring her introduction to the delights of good, old-fashioned sexual debauchery particularly delicious.
Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
This is my first RT and I’m SO excited.
Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to? What panels are you planning on attending?
I’ll be on a panel with Lindsey Faber, an editor at Samhain, and authors Tessa Dare and Shelli Stevens called Money Matters. We’ll be talking about earnings in the digital market.
I have to admit that I haven’t looked yet at the other panels, but then, I’m not exactly a planning kind of gal. I like to show up, scope things out, and then go to whatever looks like the most fun.
If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
I’ll be the medium-tall, short-haired blonde with the voice that carries a mile. I’ll be at both signings, giving away some cool notepad swag. I also hope to be doing some hard time with a bunch of my writer friends, including the aforementioned Tessa Dare and Shelli Stevens, as well as my roomie Jill Sorenson, and anyone else I know who I can cling to as a newbie.
Everyone should also be on the lookout for the exciting Romance Trading Cards a lot of writers having been working on for RT. Check it out here.
