Across the Worlds Event: The Broken Ones by Danielle L. Jensen

dark faerie tales across the universe badge

Today for Across the Worlds Event we get to visit the magical world of The Broken Ones by Danielle L. Jensen! This is a prequel novel to the Stolen Songbird, which is a fantastic high fantasy story featuring trolls! I have read and loved The Malediction Trilogy and I can’t wait to read The Broken Ones! It will be releasing on June 6th from Angry Robot and currently all three books in the Malediction Trilogy are on sale for $1.99 on Amazon through the end of May. If you haven’t read the series yet, now would be a great time to pick them up!

For our post today, I get to share with you the amazing map that was created for Trollus and a little background story on how it was created!

Trollus Map

One of the best things about having really talented friends is that they can do you awesome favours… like drawing the underground city where your novels take place! As the story goes, I was with my fabulous friend Elise Kova (Air Awakens Series / Loom Saga) in Seattle for a signing, and I was complaining about how I wanted a drawing that looked like one of those tourist maps where all the locations are little pictures, blah, blah, whine, whine. And Elise said, “I can draw that for you!” So we sat down in the original Starbucks location, and she drew Trollus before my very eyes!

Elise Drawing Trollus

Elise and I ironed out the business details, and I’m super excited to announce that if you want to get your very own copy of her drawing of Trollus, you can have it! Preorder The Broken Ones and submit your receipt to claim a swag pack, which includes a postcard of the drawing of Trollus, a bookplate signed by me, a The Broken Ones bookmark, and three Malediction Trilogy character trading cards!

Danielle L. JensenAbout Danielle:

Danielle was born and raised in Calgary, Canada. At the insistence of the left side of her brain, she graduated in 2003 from the University of Calgary with a bachelor’s degree in finance. But the right side of her brain has ever been mutinous; and in 2010, it sent her back to school to complete an entirely impractical English literature degree at Mount Royal University and to pursue publication. Much to her satisfaction, the right side shows no sign of relinquishing its domination.

The Broken Ones

Available June 6, 2017 by Angry Robot

About this Book:

A prequel to the USA Today bestseller and Goodreads Choice finalist Stolen Songbird (The Malediction Trilogy).

Below Forsaken Mountain, a plot is being hatched to overthrow the tyrant king of Trollus, and Marc is the right-hand man of its leader. His involvement is information more than one troll would kill to possess, which is why he must keep it a secret from everyone, even the girl he loves.

After accidentally ruining her sister’s chance to become queen, Pénélope is given one last opportunity by her father, the Duke d’Angoulême, to make herself useful: she must find proof that the boy she’s in love with is conspiring against the crown. If she fails, her life will be forfeit.

Marc and Pénélope must navigate the complex politics of Trollus, where powers on all sides are intent on using them as pawns, forcing them to risk everything for a chance at a life together.

Except being together may turn out to be the greatest risk of all.
