TRAVELER Takes You On A Trip Through Worlds That Might Have Been

“Jessa, think about all this for a moment,” he says, grabbing my shoulders and turning me to face him. “You’ve got something here that any writer would kill to have—unlimited worlds to explore, and all at the touch of your fingertips. How is that a bad thing?”

“How do you do it, Finn?” I ask him. “How do you keep from getting attached to people you know in these other realities?”

His hands are still on my shoulders, and they slide up to gently cup my face. “You don’t. Not always.” For a long moment, his eyes hold mine; then he drops his hands and shoves them in his pockets. “But it’s better if you don’t let yourself.”

Welcome to the shift-tilting, riveting, occasionally outlandish world(s) of TRAVELER – where mirrors can be portals to alternate realities.

Sound a little crazy?

That’s exactly how Jessa feels at first. She’s a high school senior who has dreams of being a professional writer and she often uses her very vivid dreams for writing material – especially when they feature a certain familiar face with dark hair and very green eyes.

Her world spins on its axis when she actually meets the green-eyed Finn, a Traveler who can step through mirrors into alternate realities. He’s there to train her to do the same and for a very important reason: Jessa is being murdered in all these alternate realities – and no one knows why.

TRAVELER is a dizzying ride through worlds that might have been, where Jessa meets an immortal fate-spinner who directs her through her dreams, guiding her through the various realities she needs to traverse.

Jessa swims with talking dolphins, has a spinning disco ball in her fuchsia-walled bedroom, experiences life as a person with a disability, and fights for survival in a desolate landscape as she’s hunted by cannibals. She also encounters a very flirty pirate, dances at a steampunk ball, eats the universe’s most delicious, glittering dessert, and along the way she meets family and friends who can be very different versions of the people she knows and loves.

Through it all, she has to dodge attempts on her life at home and in these other realities, and figure out just what it means to truly be Jessa – no matter whose life she’s standing in. It’s a real battle to stay grounded when thousands upon thousands of realities are spinning around you!

All in all, TRAVELER is one wild ride, and with Finn watching her back, an immortal dream god giving her direction, and her family and best friend as stabilizing forces, Jessa uses her wits and acquired skills to figure her way through this tantalizing and tilted new landscape with a writer’s eye for unfolding adventure.

TRAVELER was immense fun to write, as was its sequel, DREAMER – due out early next year. I know you’ll enjoy the ride as much as I have!

L.E. DeLanoAbout Ellie:

L.E. DeLano (represented by Barry Goldblatt Literary) is the author of the YA Fantasy novel Traveler (Swoon Reads/MacMillan).

She lives in Pennsylvania with two very adventurous kids and two very ridiculous cats. In her spare time, she writes (of course), takes roadtrips and binge-watches way too much Netflix.

About this Book:

Jessa has spent her life dreaming of other worlds and writing down stories more interesting than her own, until the day her favorite character, Finn, suddenly shows up and invites her out for coffee. After the requisite nervous breakdown, Jessa learns that she and Finn are Travelers, born with the ability to slide through reflections and dreams into alternate realities. But it’s not all steampunk pirates and fantasy lifestyles—Jessa is dying over and over again, in every reality, and Finn is determined that this time, he’s going to stop it…This Jessa is going to live.

Yes. Yes, I think I would.
It’s a little “Alice Through the Looking Glass”, and I love that.
